rudder push,pull linkage set up

i was setting up the rudder on a rescue boat build. and i used leftover parts from a shockwave 26. servo and arm and the stock linkage for the rudder even drilled the same size hole so i could use the factory bellow boot. but what i have noticed is the rod is moving in a half circle motion and moves and hits side of hole, it also moves up to the right on one side when the rudder is turned. is this normal movement of the rod when servo moves.
