So I noticed that you have not put the corners on the back yet. Are you thinking of going a little less rounded or maybe slightly squared off with a little taper or something?Peter Eells; Fun, and Helping others To Have Fun!!!

I worked on the manx a bit tonight. Got the motor mounts in (decided to go with 1/16 ply).
I also came up with my drive idea, I will head to the LHS tomorrow after work. I would love to have this boat in the water for our 11-16-08 meet. I post up some pics tomorrow after a bit more progress is done. The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.Comment

I am going to just use straight brass tube out the back and keep it short for strength. I need to get prop shafts before I can fully lay it out though. The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.Comment

no progress to show, but I did pick up some goodies for the drive line.
octura OC098L-24C .098 dia. cut cable (flex shaft) left lay
octura OC4PS 1/8 prop shaft
octura Y531 prop left handed plastic
octura OC4PN 1/8 prop nut 5-40 thread
octura OC4D 1/8 drive dog
octura OCFHE18098 1/8 to .098 drive collet
dubro part#2122 3mmx8 socket head cap screw (for mounting motors)
3/16 brass tube (the teflon tube comes with the flex shaft, you will need the next size down brass tube for a prop shaft bushing)
I hope these part numbers help out anyone interested in micros. I believe OSC also stocks most of these parts. The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.Comment

I have made some progress and will post the pics later tonight.
I started the deck
Here are some of my new tricks:
I will be air cooling the motors via naca ducts, one in front and one behind the motor. the motor boxes will be sealed from the rest of the boat to keep water that may enter the ducts out of the sensitive electronics.
I am also making an adjustable tunnel tab.
I still need to make a new rudder as mine is a hair large for this rig.

added some 1/8 square balsa so the deck would have more to bond to, also some 1/4 square for my motor hatch supports. lastly in these pics a quick side shot to show the steps and some foam in the tips of the sponsons. The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. NACA ducts to cool the motors
I am very happy with the way the NACA ducts turned out. There will be two facing the opposite direction on the motor hatch for the hot air to exit. They still need to be shaped a bit when I do the body work. The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.Comment
