I've been asked a few times how do you drill for stuffing tube etc. Figured I'd post what I did here. Credit for this idea goes to tony (propperchopper) this is a helluva easy and nice way to get your hole in the hull. I was in a hurry because the wife was rushing me to go do some more shopping so hopefully this is good enough.

First I get a piece of 3/16 rod and stuck in the collet. Put the motor where I think I want it and cut the rod to where it just touches the tunnel floor. Mark in front and back of it. Remove.
(Make sure you have tape laid first before making and drilling) i highly recommend a uni bit or tapered bit. A drill bit will "grab". Start drilling at each mark. Go slow. Not winning any races here. Drill the hole just big enough to fit your tube in it.

I prefer a removable tube so I use one size bigger than the stuffing, about 2" long. (I picked this trick up a while back, i dont remember who i saw doing this) Connect the holes with a dremel cutoff tool. File the hole straight.

I put a little angle on each edge so the tube sits flatter.

                  Test fit your tube.

Ok. Here is my alignment setup. It consists of a tube the size of the stuffing tube, one size smaller that slides in it which is 3/16 diameter. Then there is a 3/16 solid straight rod. When you have all this assembled, you will have a perfect alignment.

                  Slide rod in motor.

Slide in your short piece that will be epoxy in the hull.

Now slide in your other two pieces and it should go easily. If it doesnt, clearance where you need to. I was lucky and it fit perfect this time.

Make sure your stationary piece is scuffed up so the epoxy grabs it. I use jb weld with some graphite mixed in to tint it closer to black. Tape off the shape you want. Scuff it. I used to use an oring to puddle the epoxy (think i saw tony doing that) but I saw a few of jowls builds and liked the little square better. I didn't ask him how he did it but I came up with a way to make it look almost as good. I'm still learning on this method so bare with me.

Tape up the bottom so it doesn't run out....
I warmed up some jb weld in front of my space heater a little so I was more runny and would flow better. Start pushing some off on top the stationary tube only. Dont get it on your removable tube .Once it filled in where I needed I got my heat gun on low heat and heated it up a little (its kinda cool today and cold jb does not flow well) and helped it flow out. Then I brushed it some so it was even. Flowed it out some more. Now it's time to wait.

I wait about 3.5 to 4 hours and pull the top tape up to get your nice tape line. If you wait too long the tape will tear. If you dont wait long enough then the epoxy will be sticky and stringy....turn into a mess. Experiment with your leftover mix of epoxy from that batch.

Jb weld with powdered graphite added in it. I had wondered if I could use the graphite in it with no ill effects and after talking to keith about it, he said he uses it to....so I feel confident it will hold just fine. I did do some tests with it to see if it got weaker and as far as I could tell it didn't.

It's JB Weld with graphite mixed into it to give it a darker color.
