    Naked Stuff Tube

I don't want to use teflon in the stuff tube, 3/16 flex, do I need to change tube size or will the grease take care of the diff. with no teflon??

Most of my older 700 motors have been changed out to bl systems. I used to use .130 cable when using a 700 motor. When switching to the bl systems I pulled the teflon from the stuffing tubes and went with .150 cable and no teflon. The one I had issue with was a cat that used about 1/2" of teflon to bridge the gap between the brass and the nose cone of the strut. On this boat I used a piece of shrink tubing that I applied some ca than shrinked it in place so it didnt move around. As far as performance goes I'm not sure, because of the increase in bl power, its hard to tell which is better. I can say that they all sounded fine and smooth.

      re :

When I put a bigger motor in my Drifter S , which originally ran a .130 cable with teflon liner, I pulled out the liner as well & now use a well-lubed .187. So far, no issues, although I was a little concerned at first. With about ten runs in, all seems well

        Change Flex

It sounds like I will need to either run with the teflon or I will need to go to no teflon and a new .150 flex.

when the SV27 first came out, my buddy and i did all kinds of "tests" using a GPS. one of the tests we did was with/without the teflon in the tube, there was less than a 1mph difference. the only real change we noticed was that without the teflon, there was way more water in the hull after runs, which was easily remedied (with the fuel tube over the end of the stuffing tube trick)
