Canadians - I use 1/8" x 1/8" spruce. You could also use basswood. Sorry, I didn't realize it is not readily available in Canada. Pretty much every hobby shop in the USA has it. I get it in bulk, 36" length. If you are really having trouble, let me know and I can send some over.
Hobby shopos alone are hard to come by and when you do its ARF models everywhere. They sell mostly balsa and foam, .

Larry found a place to get bass wood strips and 'Great Hobbies' sells them too.

All is well. Wood boats aren't new to either of us.

A stealth paint job and shape would be cool, but wouldn't it be hard to see.

Guys I ordered a Kit from Pete so looking forward to building it over the winter. Have not decided on a motor but what is the weight everyone is getting? Curious if it is lite enough to run a 1 P set up instead of 2 P? Also what size ESC are you using on your set ups. I am looking at HET motors or a TP4050 on 2 P unless the build is lite. Thanks for the feed back.

I need to think of a way to make Bond part of my boat since I have the 007 cutting.

Pete uses a Neu 1515 1y, I'll be using a Caste 1515 1y. HET has some nice winds in a 1515 size... That is, 40mm x 68mm. Something in that range will work.

I forgot about that. Cool. "007". I saved "013" for the black pearl II.

You'd have to build it awful light to get away with 1P. I will weigh mine when I get a chance, but it's a tank. I don't mind the weight in that class as it helps cut thru the rough water.

                  Pete....
Got my boat delivered on Saturday. Had a little time to go through the wood and it looks like some great stuff. The laser cutting is very precise.
Everything looks great!! Looking forward to getting on with this build and having a great P-sport boat to my fleet. It actually will work out great while building my Q-sport boat at the same time and letting epoxy cure....lol

My thought on power package for this is the::::Leopard 4074, 2200kv, running a Seaking 180amp ESC, 4S2P---(2) 4500mah 65C GP batteries. The length difference is not that much different than the NEU1515 [2.72" vs 2.89"] so it should fit fairly well with the ESC in front and batteries in front of that.

Would appreciate some input on power ideas. I know everyone is pretty much sold on the NEU 1515 motor, but I'm wanting to experiment a little with these Leopard and maybe TP motors some day. Also would like to input on the 180amp ESC with this set up.

I'll probably start a separate thread when I really get going on this boat.

Great Boat Pete.....It will be fun!

Mike, glad everything arrived safely. I ran the Leopard 4082. It ran very well, but it screwed the pooch after 10 or so runs. On the other hand, I accidentally ran 9 laps with the NEU 1515-1Y at the Michigan cup last year with absolutely no cooling! It took first in all heats the next day, and I'm still running it!

Your batts sound good....just make sure they will fit across the hull (width wise). That's how I run mine. Oh, and you can't go wrong with the seaking 180. My brother in law and I have beat the pi$$ out of them, and they keep running. Great ESC's.

I was thinking of the 4082, but was concerned with the room left up front to keep the ESC forward.

So what happened with the 4082 you were running..? Just burned up?

Yes, it seized up. It ran great until then.

Pete, did you ever take it apart? I'm always curious when that happens. Years ago I had some Chilli Pepper motors that would get hot and melt the glue that held the internal winding sleeve in place. Made a freak'n mess of the motor.

                              Pete

I think this should keep it flat until the epoxy dries.
I hope it does not warp my workbench.

                                LOL....That should do it Larry!!!

I use some 1 gallon ziploc freezer bags, reinforce the bottom and side seams with duct tape
And filled them with play sand. They work great and distribute the weight evenly. Plus their
                                Cheap....lol

I've used them on sheeting aircraft wings and now holding down boat parts square to the building
surface. Also used them when decking the boat.
