I don't have both hulls here so I can't compare weight. This build reminds me of the RCMK 1200 hull boats. I say this because of the larger rudder base that you get with that hull. That I like very much as I like to build a saddle for my rudder to fit in. I would change the hull also if I was to use this hull.
I like both the RCMK 1200 hull and this hull. Both have there strong points!
Keith you have both hulls. what is the weight differance?
However, if you're looking to change a hull the 1200 is a good choice.Comment

Thanx Kevin, I think I have the steering issue solved. I just have to get it back out and run it, but so far I really like the boat. And as you can see it turns on a dime.
I think it should run S/T offshore just fine and be competitive.

I'd love to see this boat in a race against other cats. Spinning props outwards I imagine?Comment

Hi guys. I'm the proud new owner of this hull and I'm trying to get it up and running before spring...so I have a few months. :)
I was thinking of going with these motors... http://offshoreelectrics.com/proddet...p?prod=tp-4070 but I'm not sure about the proper KV rating in order to stick with the 4516 props. I'm running 5S batteries for the initial run but I will most likely pick up 6S packs down the road. From what I've read, it looks like flraptor07 went with 1770kv motors and I'm not sure if he was using 6S or 7S lipo's. Since I'm going with 5S-6S, should I be looking for a slightly higher KV rating?
I'm also switching the rudder system to Keith Bradley's type A rudder system as my friend has a mill and offered to cut the metal block down a bit and drill/tap new holes for the new rudder dimensions. Does anyone have the mounting pattern for Keith's Type A rudder so I can get a head start on cutting and drilling/taping? I'm not doing this because there is a problem with the current setup, I'm doing it because I really like the looks of Keith's Type A rudder and I figured a KBB hull should have a KBB rudder. :)
Also, do I need to have a reverse thread collet for one of the motors? I noticed kintec racing has some reverse thread collet options for 5mm shafts but I'm not sure if they make them for 8mm or if they're even required when going with such a large collet size?Last edited by fidelity101; 02-04-2015, 11:01 AM.Comment

Does anyone know where I can find some M3 x 40mm Flat countersunk allen head screws? That's what was used to hold the billet block on the hull and I ruined them trying to get that block off the hull. If I can't find a source for those bolts (rtlfasteners.com and http://www.trimcraftaviationrc.com ) has bolts that go up to 30mm unless I step up to M5 bolts.Last edited by fidelity101; 02-07-2015, 11:51 AM.Comment

I think you should start your own thread for building it and post your questions there.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

Apologies, I thought it would be easier to keep this thread going since it's the same boat.
I'll stop posting here and reference this build thread in the newly created thread if that's ok with everyone.Comment
