Hiya Slash.
Ya she's coming along. I really wanted to run steel drive gears with the bearings I just purchased on the stock 4mm stainless shafts to reduce rotating weight, over 5mm drive shafts. Unfortunately no one makes 5mm >4mm pinion reducers any more.
However I did find 5x8x4mm flanged bearings, so they'll accept the new 11/32 stuffing tubes. I also found 5mm brass rod from k&s & factory size 28T steel pinions, so a 5mm upgrade later will be a quick swap......Comment

I parked my new toy & decided to get some work done on the villain project.....

I pulled the outdrives again & I got the h2o pickup installed. I also ran a 3/8" hole thru the hull for the h2o inlet, right between the outdrives. I got the old 80's steering linkage boots out. I replaced them with the new style boots from the Villain EX. It was a bit of a chore getting it done w/o drilling out the original holes to the larger size, but I got r' done. They're a nice snug fit so I hope it fixed the water leak.
I installed the cooling coils and ported it out the starboard side of the hull to finish the cooling system. I pulled the xl-1 ec, in antisapation for the new ESC, and I eliminated the stock AA Rx battery box. I wired in a j.e connector to the on/off switch, and I used a j.e to servo plug adapter so I can run a 6v flat Rx pack.
I hope Bugzilla got the ESC shipped off, I haven't heard anything yet, but I am still waiting for the stainless u-joints.....Last edited by gsbuickman; 11-11-2013, 11:36 PM.Comment

Another thing is that the steel gears are going to be loud. Just as a gear drive is in a car.Comment

I've got a couple of stainless ujoints, what sizes do you need? the ones I have are 4mm on one side and 1/8" on the otherComment

I was going to suggest that K&S have some metric tubing and you could probably find one to slice up and put reliefs in for a pinion gear. That is all the adapters are from here or Kintec,Robinsons are just steelies.

Man you ain't gonna believe this, I got a AstroFlight ESC that looks just like that except it's a 207D and says Max 60 volts Max 50 Amps and a Cordite Motor identical to the one in the pic water cooling tubes and all. I pulled them out of a hull I got off Ebay, I just wanted the hull and it said they worked. Do you want them?Comment
