Spicedcrab, You don't by chance know the weight of just the bare hull ? A buddy and I are looking to build hydros and we're debating over this one and the vac-u pickle. I found the weight of the pickle to be 29.5 ounces. Thanks and sorry to hear about your first build.

          etowne,

the bare hull is 15.8 ounces.

i liked this boat a lot, from what i seen on the 1st one. i didnt hesitate deciding on another one after i lost the 1st one, (actually i bought two more, the red hull is waiting for me to finish this one 1st)

good luck with what you choose and have fun with them, im sure you would be happy with either hydro.

the plastic servo mount that OSE sells fits perfect off to one side; http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...rod=dh-jrpa244

i 1st scuffed the botttom of the plastic and made it real rough for the epoxy to hold. then also scuffed the top edge were it touches the deck and epoxied that spot also. it puts the servo in just the right spot by positioning the mount flush with the deck opening.

Cool! In my DF22 I used the exact same mount in the exact same spot!

It looks to be half the weight as the pickle. Thanks for the info. We'll pry copy your set-up. The video of your first build looks like it will be a very fun FE. Thanks again.

oj racer, yea it works perfect, doesnt it. feel free to post any recommendations or tips or pics, as we go along so everyone can benefit, its nice to have several opinions on setups, i learn as much as i can from others, its part of the fun of rc boats. seeing what we can all do with them.

etowne, it would really be nice if you and your buddy both got the same boat and ran at the same time when you can, its even more fun than running alone. keep us posted if you do, we all learn from one another as we go.

here are a couple pics of the servo in the mount now.

etowne, i just put the boat back on the scale, its exactly 32 ounces now. thats with the motor, servo, strut, stuffing tube, carbon braces and foam installed. (just like you see in the current pictures shown)

Thanks spicedcrab. We're definatly convinced this is the hull we're going to use. This is what the other one weighs w/ nothing.Only differance we'll be running it on 4s lipos to start. When I start mine I'll post the build. Now, I'll quit interupting your thread....

i ran the cooling lines today. i have the water going to the ESC and BEC 1st, then it goes to the motor, it exits the motor at the highest point so no air is trapped inside when running. i have the rudder temp installed checking for pushrod adjustment and alignment, i will be taking it back off to waterproof the screw holes and put on a clear coat to protect it from corrosion.
