Could you please tell me what motor and ESC you are using?
I also have a Dumas boat like this that a friend of mine wants turned into electric. (although not as pretty as yours)
It had twin 90 OPS motors in it that are now for sale.
The boat is 57" long and has two outdrives so I need two motors and two ESC's that I guess would be powered by one set of batteries ?
He wants 60mph, how fast are you thinking yours in going to go ? I don't know if 60 is a realistic number ?
      Any suggestions or advise ?
      Thanks T.C.

Hi Terry, I actually like the "sundeck" look on yours a little better. That sucker should have really scooted with the twin engines. A friend of mine(Member Bill34207) had a 54" Arapaho and ran it with a Castle 2028 and was mid 60's so that is realistic for yours in a twin setup. He ran the 780kv motor on 9s2p I have added a vid of it at the bottom, he had a wind gust blowover in the vid that didnt hurt anything and he fired it up again for the remainder of the video, looks pretty solid.

You dont need 2 motors that size obviously, I'll venture to say that you can get there with twin 4092 4D's on 6s1p each. Good rpm zone in the mid-higher 20's and smaller diameter for room's sake.

The motor I am running is a 5692 1000kv on 6s2p, I'll be starting with an s240, but most likely end up with an x455/3. My rpms are in the mid-lower 20's but I want to run a bit bigger prop. If you went with the twin 4092's I'd venture a guess at the props in the x452-x455 range for each side...........you need counter-rotational obviously.

Managed to get the cooling system done, I have been using straight aluminum tubes lately in larger boats to minimize all the bending and the resistance it can cause with Tygon tubing............plus it gives it a real 'clean' look. I was out of aluminum tube so I went with brass.

I made my own steering rods that are sturdy enough to allow very minimal slop but thin enough to bend up if i hit something and the outdrive raises.

Looks like a run is in the cards real soon.

Thank for the advice and the vid., the sun deck look will probably go as it's made out of real cloth and foam, the red interior is heavy gage alum welded together, Kool for display maybe ?
I never got to see the boat run as it only run a short time for tuning and has been sitting for probably 20 years.
Thats a bunch of money to have sitting, owner told me he payed around 500.00 ea for the out drives, not counting two OPS 80's.
I don't want to high jack your thread so I'm going to sit back and see how yours runs, then maybe I'll have more questions for ya.
            If ya don't mind?
            Thanks T.C.

Well..................here she is on the maiden.

Not anything spectacular, but in the 40's based on the white truck its passing at 0:30. The 200s ESC wroked flawlessly, not bad as I may be the guinea pig on this forum with it................how can you go wrong for 45 bucks for a 7s 200a job.

At 0:55 it started to make a metallic, loudish sound which may not be audible in the vid, so i backed off and brought her in, havent even had time for a peek at it yet............may be ok, may be bad, I did fill the outdrive with oil before the run.

This thing is awesome and the fact that the OPS engine sold for so much, really a great deal. Figured I would throw this out there for anyone interested

Thanks to all here, when I think of a cool cruising scene from Vice I think of this, its a really cool, "eerie" song, skip to around 0:20 if you want to.

This boat looks almost identical to mine. Give it a quick listen , you may not have heard it.................it Jams and it will be stuck in your head.

I remeber that scene, loved it then and love it now. Crockett and
Tubbs going to avenge the death of Tubb's brother. The boat in this scene
was a Chris Craft which was used in the early shows up to season three I believe
Then they started using a Well Craft Scarab 38KV which is the one the Dumas boat was modeled after.
They were both very similar but Well Craft wanted their boat on one of the most popular
shows of the 80's so they ponied up the $$$ and the boat.
I guess they knew a good advertising opportunity when they saw it.

I like your project alot. You could definitely make some cool Miami Vice type vids with it

Well, here is the cause of the "noise" i heard. Apparently either one of the bearings on the vertical shaft was pulverized to oblivion, or it was forgotten when the previous owner put it back together for some reason. Either way it ate up one of the bevel gears due to the large amount of slop and it is now basically smooth.

I found out that the vertical shaft is 3/16" and that there may be replacement gears.................. gosh, not an EP1 nightmare again where you cant find replacement gears anywhere.

Anyone know if the site 'International Hobbies' is current/active?? The gears look exactly like what I need, but it says they are backordered. I sent them an email. If they are available, I will be amazed and very happpy about it.

In the photos below you can see the gears on either end of the 3"16 vertical shaft where one is fine and the other smooth.
