ML Boatworks GP265- Sport 12/ 2s lipo Sport Hydroplane- 26.5"

Here is the new GP265 Sport 12, 26" sport hydro. It has a 4.25" wide engine well. As you can see I am working on a new cowling plug. This one is for FE, and then I will modify the plug to make a nitro cowling afterwards. The pics you see are after 4 hours of work total. Weight so far is only 1 lb 5 oz with all the wood parts on the scale, so its gonna be a light one! Enjoy, Mike

PS, to the N class guys out there, whats a good heat motor for a hull like this??? Opinions needed so I can rig it!

1515 seems a bit large for a small lightweight hull. I just want 50mph out of this hull as i feel that will be a fun speed for it. I have decided to run a tenshock sc401, 5200kv, 36x63mm motor. Should be plenty of power to get it moving. Mike

Well, The hull itself is built. I have had it done for a week, just not time to upload pics! With interior epoxied, and one coat of exterior epoxy the hull weights in at 1lb 9.8oz, which I think is really reasonable! Enjoy, MIke

Let us know how your motor works out Mikey. Pick'ins for a budget N class motor are slim. Are the Feigao's not being made any more?? The N Mono that I purchased from Dick has a Feigao 6L which Doug recommeded.

Yes, they are slim at a good price for that class of boat. I spoke with Doug the other day and he said to go with the 4600kv version of the Tenshock sc401. Right now tho, due to lack of spare change, I am going to throw a UL-1 motor in it with 4s 5250mah setup just so I can get the boat tested. Once funds get better I will switch it over to the 2s setup with hi amp esc setup. Mike

Oh, and I do not know about the Feigao's. Looks like Steve is removing them from the site??

I finally have a motor coming to run this with. a Neu 1512 4875kv, with fightercat 2-8s 240a esc. I still have to get the cowling mold done. Been out of town and busy at work! Mike

Well, got the batteries and motor for the GP265. I have not had any time to work on this thing lately. Still have to make the cowling mold. I sure hope to get it done soon. 10000mah's, 2s power, 35c hyperion packs, Neu 1512 1d 4875kv, fightercat 2-8s 240 or castle hydra 240lv esc. As you can see there is plenty of room! Mike

You ought to be able to get your 50 mph with that motor.
                      The boat looks great Mike.

Haha, Kevin Shearin hooked me up with the motor, and the 2s hyperion packs what can I say! 50mph, hmm, we used the same can, 1512, to set the P O/B Tunnel record with a 71.29mph pass on a bigger, heavier 30" tunnel boat that has more water drag than this hydroplane will...You know Doug, your right, I might get 51mph from this sucker!

Well, after such bad luck working on the gas tunnel cowling plug, I had a bit of good luck. Got the cowling mold finished, just need to buff and polish as its been final sanded with 1000 grit. Got a couple cowlings for an AU order done for the gp335 and gp400 series, and got some of the hardware figured out on the GP265 test hull. As you can see, its running speedmaster hardware, Neu 1512 1D motor, hyperion 2s packs, and fightercat 2-8s, 240a esc with external cap bank. Motor is just put in there, not mounted yet as I wanted to check some space requirements first! Looks like its all gonna fit! Even got my special Dick Tyndall custom Sport 12 skid fin! Enjoy, Mike
