Dang... I just found this thread again and realized I hadn't updated it in a LONG time...

        Here is the quick update...

I HATED this boat... I couldn't make it work at all...

THEN, after changing everything and reworking everything... decided that it was likely the turn-fin causing issues.

I purchased a Sport 21 fin from Mike Hughes, and carefully installed it, and THAT fixed the problem! Boat runs GREAT now. Needs the 4S pack all the way forward, and offset to the left, but it works great...

        And THEN.....

At the PSFEMBC race this past weekend... DANG it was running well... and then... well... I have some repairs to do.

        20140510_101406_resized.jpg

The damage is fairly localized, and I think I can fix it nicely... Just more time away from other projects.

        Repair updates to follow...

Oh boy, i should have put that ply transom all the way across. Looks like the boat just missed it on both side, it will fix ok just done add much weight back there.

That's a sponson and a nose of an Insane 30 at pretty much full-tilt... Those things are tough!

                Hi Darin
I have the same boat what problem did you have it would be interesting to find out. And what prop did you end up with.

I was still running the M447... Hadn't had a chance to start playing with props. However, it was pretty fast even with this prop.

Lower kv and big prop or higher kv and smaller prop. I wonder what works best? Wouldn't a smaller prop combo help boat handle better? Isn't it fun to test and see.

I haven't taken a pic yet, but the transom is now capped with a .125" layer of Carbon Fiber sheet... We'll work from there! Probably not going to puncture again!

I'm a little surprised at how "dry" this layup is. There is some dry cloth around the transom areas. Might have to have a chat with Phil.

I'm thinking of ordering another one of these for another application. I really like the boat now that I have the handling figured out. The Version 2 would likely be the way to go.

Roughed in the pieces from the hull I got back after the "incident", and started working on fitting the Carbon Fiber plate to the transom. Will cover the "ugly" parts and provide a flat and solid mounting surface again.

May also help protect against errant Insane FE30 attacks...
