Got the rudder mounted. I bock sanded the mount a bit to reduce the heavy back sweep angle there was on the area the rudder mounted too on the hull. I'm going to add some resin inside to strengthen that area since I sanded a bit away.
Also drilled holes for the water outlets. I'm using bulkhead fittings as exhaust ports that shoot water. they aren't bolted down yet just sitting in the holes.
Im prob going to shorten the bracket that mounts to the hull for the rudder so the rudder doesn't stick back so far.Last edited by JPriami; 09-17-2011, 09:38 PM.Land, Sea & Air, A true RC Addict.Comment

Added flotation to the cowl. Cut it flat after it expanded and then sealed over it. Might paint this white to hide it more.
I couldn't stand running out of stuff to do so I went ahead and cut the 110mm stingers I had to fit this boat. I filed the ends flat. Then pushed out the 2 bushings per stinger to relocate them. Turned out nice. Just need to clean the stingers up now after working on them. So now I have some nice 3/16 stingers for this.

Thanks Chud
I laid some extra fiberglass and resin on sponson transoms when I reinforced the floor areas. After drilling holes to mount stingers and rudder I wanted a better way to get the nuts and washers off easier if I need to take the rudder and stingers off. I installed them with a little grease on the threads and bolts and encased them I'm fiberglass resin. This way it strengthens the area and will hold the hardware in place when doing any work. The grease helps when taking the bolts out if any resin gets in the threads.

Bad thing is, when you bolt everything back together, the nuts are very likely to turn inside the resin. Youll have to get the resin out so you can get a socket on the nuts. Good thinking, but I would have cut transom doublers out of wood or carbon fiber plate.Comment
