Slow and steady progress. Bored out the holes for the needle bearings and pressed them in. The shafts with the collars are nice and smooth. Hopefully I get the shroud mount complete tonight, changing it a little bit.
I believe we have a REAL craftsman here!!!!!! Wonderful work. Some of us can only dream of such things!!!!
I wouldn't go that far, lol. Anyone can do what I do with a little training and practice. Of course it helps having open access to a machine shop. Man, I'd love to have a mill and lathe in my garage.
So just about done work right now. I made all the changes to the mount, and they work very well (pics will come tomorrow), but I found a design flaw. I didn't leave myself enough material to get a solid mount on the post, and it looks like crap. So gotta redesign it, and get it recut, and do it all over again. Sucks my cnc guy is off for 2 weeks. oh well.
are those GWS 64 mm fans? what motors are you planning on using ? i had a set of those with 3700kv motors in an A10 warthog and honestly they werent all that impressive in the air. Im just wondering how the resistance of the water is going to hinder overall speed? awsome build though cant wait to see the end result and final video

ok, more work complete. Looks like I did not have to redesign afterall. I was able to work with what I had. Only thing I changed was added a slit in the shroud bracket. Now the shroud sits inside the mount, as opposed to just against it. Much more solid.
Here's the complete mount/steering assembly. I still have to do the servo mount, so it will mount up to this bracket. That way it's all 1 piece.
Here are a few pics with the fans in place. See how nice they sit in that groove? I still have to fasten them down.

You are too kind. Deff. not a CNC programmer. I wish, then I'd be putting out some serious parts, lol. Not a mechanical engineer either. I've spent the last 10 years as a PLC programmer (trust me, not even close to CNC) for the automotive industry. In that role, I run a lot of projects from design to implementation, taking care of all the details in between. I guess you can say I just have a nac for design. Trust me, it's a curse. Sometimes I lay in bed, and can't go to sleep because my brain is going crazy with ideas on how to design stuff. lol.
Ok, got the drive/steer section 99% complete. I need to order new impellers as the ones in the pic are not the original ones, and there's too much vibration. Can't run it on more than 2s. All that's left is the link from the servo mount to the tandem steering setup. And then of course the boat, lol.
