    i see. sounds like you have a plan, plus i am sure you have tested it quite a bit more than the designers LOL....
    that is what my dad used to tell me when i would put a lift kit on my truck "i am sure you high school kids know better than the engineers at ford"

      LOL.
      What I did was calculate the total ride surface of the insanity sponsons to determine what the designer intended for it's 4"wide tub to run. then I calculated the JAE21's total ride surface of the sponsons. then determined how much wider the JAE'2 sponsons needed to be to match the total ride surface od the insanity's sponsons. Then I widened the tub to the insanity's width.

                    hey haze;
                    make sure and SEAL the dowels when you go to install the turn fin. If any moisture gets in there the soft wood will become a bit mushy.

                      do you mean after I drill the holes for the turn fin screws? I was going to back the screws back out and then push some 30 min epoxy in the hole then screw the fin on that should seal it up pretty good. I just got a Turnigy marine 35 amp esc http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=7377 and I am going with this outrunner if it craps out I will switch to a 380 leopard.

                        if you use the self taping screws for the turn fin, run them in carefully, remove them,
                        run in some thin super glue to help seal and harden the threaded area, then mix up some thin
                        epoxy and carefully take a couple q-tips and put some in the holes and make sure to try and get it all coated inside.

                          is there another way you would do it? havent gotten anyfarther on the boat but think I will work on it tomorrow a bit. I need to fab a motor mount and I am going to make the hatch cover just one big long piece rather than 2 smaller ones. I will be able to finish the boat once I get my parts. I am hoping to have it finished by the weekend then I can ask SWMBO if I can get batterys for my completed boat :)

                            Drill pilot holes in the dowels.
                            thread the screws in then out
                            fill the holes with finishing resin (hey I think you have mine)
                            Dip the screw (threaded part) in some oil (like 3in1, sewing machine, or tri-flow)
                            thread the screw into the hole again while the epoxy is still wet
                            let cure
                            back out the screws and install the turnfin
