      yeh being out with the "air" in a outboard setup probably helps too I'm sure.... great information for all of us with 1717's .... thanks soooo much for sharing.... Now you just made me feel much better about a 1717 in my sprintcat project I'm starting....

        You should have no problems seeing 60's with this motor in the sprintcat, the only thing is getting cooling jackets.

          cool.... I have one of the 1717 alluminum jackets from here at OSE... I was one of the 3 people who got one I also got them for my 1518, and my 1520... pays to be a swap shop vulchar sometimes...lol :) thanks for your input its definately a go now with the 1717!!!

            If that is a glass hull, I believe it was made back in Plano Texas by a company I can not remember.
            They made monos, tunnels, and riggers.

                    Thanks! Well I hit my target today 62 with the x447/3 before it decided to turn into a submarine and went under for a good 10 secs. I moved the motor mount up about 1/2" to give me a little more adjustment and removed the carbon pushrods and installed flexible steel ones.

                      Another thing I did was installed a 100v 2200 micro farad cap to the swordfish esc since I have longer battery leads. Eagletree shows I'm still pulling around 178 amps and temps around the external fets read a max of 126 degrees.
