Cooked my Fiegao 540xl on 6s.. Better motor options?

I want something that will handle more power and not run so hot. I also really don't wana replace my motor mount (Product ID: ose-80210
540XL Carbon, Heavy duty water cooled mount) Unless there is an easy way to adapt a larger motor into it? Or am I stuck replacing it? My motor was labeled 1445kv. Would I want more like 1100-1200 kv to better handle 6s? I mean, I should be able to run 42mm prop on my 35"mono with 6s. The motor should handle a 45mm prop I'd think..... IDK.... I'm just not excited that I only got 30 mins use out of my $70 (not a lot I know...but still) 540XL.

The boat is a 33"hull. It's under "build pics of my aeromarine titan 33" in this forum if you wana see it. Wouldn't I wana like 1100kv to keep the rpm more like 24,000 with 6s? I don't know that I fully understand how to choose. Thanks, -Nick

Slightly less rpm than your feigao. Longer can with more torque. Perfect 6s motor!!

You're setup should be OK, but for that motor (and all Fiegaos IMO) a water-cooling jacket is a MUST. Just cooling the mount will not provide adequate cooling for the motor. Timing is another issue that affects heat. The Fiegaos should be run with 7 - 15 degrees of timing.
If you want a better motor, I agree with Alexgar, 1518 or even 1520 on a 35" hull.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do also have a cooling jacket on the feigao as well as the cooled mount (not sure the mount helps much??) When you say timing, is the like the pwm setting on my swordfish 240 esc? It has options of 8 khz 12khz and 15khz. I believe mine is at 8 now. 15 would add a little more heat correct? Thanks again for the input!

Try not water cooling the mount because you'll get more water to the motor jacket.

I dont agree. Cool both. As long as there are no kinks it shouldn't be a problem.
