I ran my 29" Promise cat last weekend in 5 heats of racing. By the last heat of Open Cat I was passing a 50" cat running a big Lehner and 10S 2P something with a schulze esc.

I'll try to get the on board camera footage, he had a camera in his boat and it caught me doing a back flip in front of him in one heat. What a blast, nearly 60mph from a $30 motor and 5S2P, old poly rc 5000's 25C and the Turnigy 180 esc & extra Etti blue cap. I'll try to take some pics of this cat and my other boats in a new thread...later.

    Oh yeah, I ran a 2 blade x450 detongued & thinned. Shweet.

Does anyone know the max temp on an outrunner?Ive heard that outrunners can handle higher temps.I have 2 that Im considering for my Drifter. They are Align 600 xl 1650 kv.They also have water jackets on them. They have an "outer can" that doesnt spin.Im also looking for water cooled mounts for use in a twin drive.I do have to do some tuning and experimenting with the hull 1st though. It seems to want to turn right constantly.

I have a pair I run to 150+ regularly. No problems. Don't know about the outrunners in a can though.

Drop the strut down, it should straighten up.

I'm working with Pete to make some sponson mounted 540 sized mounts, like the EKOS mounts only larger.

Ive tried the strut all the way down.I just have to keep testing. It gets on my nerves.Makes me want to twin it the more I think about it.Plus, twins are sweet anyway.Especially with outrunners.Good idea with working with Pete.I mite contact him later if I decide to go that way.I also gave you an idea in your JB Weld thread.I kinda like it.Let me know what you think.

Yeah, I recall the issue with the pulling to the right, but oddly don't have that problem with any of them now...

Another thing to check is the alignment of the strut/rudder hanger. Sometimes they are not straight. I've had to loosed them and realign them. Sometimes tightening one side more than the other to keep it in line with the hull. I know what you mean about the frustration.

I run the CC240 on 6s all the time.

Don't know the amp draw, I'm stupid like that I guess. I'm just guessing and apparently guessing well. (<=2k watts to push a 32" cat 55mph)

Huh. I didn't even notice. Just just assumed 6s wired it up and ran it. 240LV.

HAHAHA!! That is nuts! I <3 overkill!
I am planning on building my first rigger and make a small part of the bottom of the hull made out of thin aluminum and heatsink the motor(s) and esc(s) to that. No tubing!

Yeah, I've been thinking and it would make quite a bit of sense to have the motor mount, stringer & hull portion all aluminum and touching the water. I'm still waiting for the right hull for the project, but I really think it'll work.

Yea! As long as you plan on it and your not affraid of possibly messing up a hull i think you could do it with any flat surface on the bottom of the boat. It would see 100 times more water than you could get from the tubes!
The rigger is gonna be the guinea pig for a bunch of ideas i have. But will not be in the water untill at least lext june or later since school is comming and it is a huge times suck.
