That sounds amazingly awesome! because They are out of stock of the k45s for my boat!
Did you consider throwing 7s in there? Might be too much for the esc
I would love it if you tried the k51 on 6s tho! :D Many happy!

I can say it was fast and cool. Motor temp was 130 after 4 minutes. I pulled it in early to check temps. ESC was 110 and the batteries were at 100. Nice.

The only problem is when I let off the throttle and did some slow navigation, I managed to back out the prop nut and lose a brand new m545 about 10 feet from the shore!

I didn't use any loc-tite, so serves me right I guess...

I'm thinking about jumping up to the x447. Anyone want to FE Calc that?
Are you using the forerunner?? Mine did the same thing. I had to remove the batteries and bend the contacts in a bit. When I shook it in my hand the batteries would momentarily lose contact and it would shut off.

Yep! That's exactly what I did and now it is working well!

Running consistently ~54mph... Bottom of the ESC still get's hot, so only running a few laps and bringing it in.

Now for an experiment. Same setup, only I'm going to scuff the bottom of the hull with a 3M scotchbrite and we'll see how different the hull handles after being scuffed.

Anybody want to guess at the amount of improvement? Right now it's glossy clear coated.

3mph? and have you decided on a bigger/higher pitch prop?

I have a k51 to try next. =) Still haven't been to the water. It's been really windy due to the Hurricanes off coast.

Yessss!!! I hope it works well!! That sucks about the hurricanes.
I just got 3 of those props today, two for my twin cat and one for my surge since i have to run it on 6s since i can't use 8s like i said in the other thread.
I hope you get 65 out of that!

fightercat - how far is the motor mount from the trandsom on this boat? please give me the measurement from the back of the hatch opening to the back of the motor mount plate. since i am using the same hull and motor mount this will make it easy for me to get the placement right. thanks!!

I mounted mine closer to the nose to reduce the bend in the wire drive. This made less room for the motor to clear the hatch. The outrunner is pretty short compared to most inrunners.

I would recommend mounting the motor in the mount and setting it inside the hull and putting the hatch on to make sure it clears. I had some clearance issues with the CC/Neu 2200kv motor that could have been solved if the mount was farther back to the transom.

                    What motor are you using?

i am making a copy of your boat with the big outrunner... that is why i asked. i am using the same motor, mount, wire drive and hardware as you. have you had good luck with this set-up? i am just looking to build a reliable 6s mid 50's set-up. i will use a cc240, 2 x 5000 40c's, turnigy 600 outrunner, .078 wire drive on a hotr in-line strut converted to 3/16 stub with a m545 to start.

Yeah, that's the setup! It's 26cm from the outside tail of the sponson where the rudder mounts to the tip of the fiberglass motor mount.

m545 is a bit small, I'm using an m447 now and room for more. That motor is a Monster!

I've been on Vacation, but when I get back I'll get some good runtime information on the 447.

                          Net Effect: 1MPH

                          Top speed 54.5

Might be conditions, but it was finally calm and clear this morning so probably not.

Temps still 110-130, so I'm going to up the prop.

Is an m447 a speed advantage over the x447?

I doubt you gain any but you will unload the motor a bit. Might want a X450 or I love the m545.

Think I'll try the K51. Had a nice new m545 that spun itself off a couple weeks ago... Up in this thread somewhere there's a post on it. It did well. I might buy another.
