I stuffed a pair of 1717's in a Daytona (Genesis) today. Used the 50mm TwinCat Motor Mounts I had made. He he. Twin 1717's? Can you say SAW Boat?
I was 2 sec away from getting 2 1717's for mine on thier black friday sale but thought they wound't fit with jackets in there but the watercooled mounts and some fans would prolly be enough! You should put those bad boys in there! :D:D

Yeah, I just posted a WTB for another 1717 air. I think they'll stay cool enough.

        37" Daytona.

I will be building the Daytona which is similar to this and I have a couple questions.I will be running counter rotating props and need to know if the stingers have to push the prop past the back of the boat to work right.I think prop rotation will not be a problem but my stingers have the prop 1" short of clearing the back and are 75mm from mount to prop.I found some 110mm ones on Fighter Cat web store but they are out of stock.

I take it you tried the short stingers and they did not work.If I get those should I use the 3/16 flex cable or are wire drives better.

Cables work well. The Wires have less resistance and should yield better top performance.

HK will have this version soon. It's a twin genesis with the short 4mm stingers.

I've tried to get them to use the longer stingers, but they don't see a reason for it. They want to use 4mm shaft, 38mm props on this one.

                Hey FC,

Can you use the wire drives on a single setup or is there too much bend in the stuffing tube?
                Thanks.

I've run the 078 wires right in the stock tube.

I've only broken 1, but noticed that it was binding when it broke. I had re-greased it and didn't adjust it correctly and it was causing a bind in the bend.

I have some available. Not sure if Jeff is still doing the 4mm drives or not.

I really like the wires, because there's no thrust twist and less wear on the motor bearings. No need for thrust bearings.

Cool, thanks. What size would fit in the stock Genesis?

078 wire with a 4mm size prop shaft. I think they are 12.5", but get the 13" and cut it to length. Grind in a flat spot for the prop dog and you're good to go. I also like to scuff the end of the shaft that goes into the coupler for a little added bite.

                          Stingers.

Yea the more I looked at it the more I realized that the short stingers would be problematic. The turbulence from all that water being thrown into that small cup shaped area would cause drag and cut down the great roosters that twin drives throw.I ordered the new 110s and we will have to figure out wire / cable drives and couplers later.I have been using the ones with 6 set screws without problems but are the collet couplers better for any reason ??

I'll have cables when the hardware is ready.
OSE has 3/16" cables/stubs that would work as well. Lots of choices.

Yeah, but they fit. (sans water jackets)
