Well, looks like I have a "bad" lipo pack.

I changed the cells to a same rated pair and was back up to 7 minutes of run time.

I pulled the pack apart and found a mess, some of the cells had been leaking a smelly goo and are all messed up. Eeeew.

That explains that! It's a pack that did get submerged in salt water a few months ago. Thought I had gotten them dryed out, but guess not. Should have split the shrink wrap and been certain.

Was a good run today though. She'll go much faster. The motor temp is ambient and the ESC is about 110-120 post run. The x440 doesn't seem to stress the setup at all.

    =)

It ran so cool and soooo smooth! Temps all about 100 after the run.

The x445 is too much prop and usually ends up putting the ESC in low voltage mode within a few seconds, so would like to try an x442 next and see how it goes.

It goes like a bat out of hell on 4s, but that's asking way too much of this cheap drive system. I know it wouldn't last long that way.... So sticking with 3s2p and not going for any speed records. =)

What's up? I have a build similar to yours.. I would like to know if you run your batteries in Series or Parallel. I`m thinking about 2- 4S Lipo's in Parallel or 2- 3S in Parallel.. I`m not looking to beat any speed records, I`ll save that for my next build. Thanks.

I'm not one to make battery recommendations, but... I really like the dual pack setups in parallel. I only have one with series and am changing it shortly. Much more run time and lower battery temps with more "juice" available to the motors. =)

NOTE* If you're going for top speed, go series as the setup will be lighter.

          Programing ESC

Has anyone tried to program the ESC with a Turnigy Program Card?

I have the instructions someone posted but found it hard to do with a pistol grip radio.

          Cheers

I have one of the programming cards for the Sea King 120, but haven't used it yet. If I break the package on it, I'll see if it works on the stocker.

Waiting for the s&b x442 to get back in stock... Then we'll shoot for 50!
The x445 is too much prop, so am thinking that the x442 will do great.

I'm tempted to try 4s, but worried about sh!t breaking. This is when I wish I had bought better hardware...

So... today I lost my first built in BEC. The Turnigy 180 simply stopped putting power to the Rx and the boat stopped.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just died. The Rx light comes on for a split second and goes out now. So I guess it's time to wire in the SBEC.

Updating the connectors to 6.5mm bullets. PSA- don't waste any money on the polymax connectors.

Time for some new hoses and a neat squidly ESC wiring setup. Going to split the water lines into a Y connection so each side get's fresh cool water.

NOTE* I know the water nipples are not lined up correctly on the cooling can. It's unfortunate, but they are permanently there due to modifications to the can to fit this motor it cannot be turned... Originally, the wires were on top with the nipple... but the cowl hits the wires. Also, the nipple is too tall and hits the cowl when it's on top.

It's basically the same for the Apparition. Although the Apparition turns much better.

OK, she's ready to get wet again!

Re-routed the water lines and added an SBEC.

I'm thinking the next time she get's torn down, I'm going to paint the interior with some of that epoxy appliance paint. I did some other fiberglass stuff and it came out great!

The wires are a bit tight, but are well stranded silicone wires, so they don't "feel" stressed by the bending... I'm still working on a way to get them a little cleaner...

Yes, but there are three different versions of the same boat in the photos. Maybe more.

I had a problem with my Hydra 240 on my Genesis, so bought another one to replace it. Now, when the warranty unit arrives, I'll have two Hydra 240 ESC's.

                              I'm considering replacing the Turnigy 180a and using the Hydra 240 with the 1515/1.5d 2700Kv on 3S2P 30c 10km.

I'm also thinking that by using the Hydra 240, I'll be able to up the prop size a notch or two?

Still not sure though, it's been a great runner with the T180 and x440 prop with that motor and battery setup.

                                Still running the T180, CC/Neu 2650 1515/1.5d on 3s and about 46-48mph every run.
Ran 4 pairs of Lipo's through it this morning. Temps all in the low 120's, even after three runs in a row! Runs are about 6-9 minutes depending on cells and about 3-4 miles total distance.

I noticed a HUGE drop in ESC temp when I started using the OSE "Y" splitters. About 20 degrees post run! The motor still doesn't even get hot to the touch. It's barely warm. I'm really considering going to the x442 prop. If anyone has a good one, I wouldn't mind buying it. =)

Don't want to jinx the luck, but it's been a great combination to date!
