Yeah its a great time. My wifes always asking how I can wrench on a boat all day and only run it for 3 minutes out of the day. I just tell her, its the difference between a hobby and running a Walmart toy. To me, its bout the wrenching and accomplishments.. running it is just a bonus.

It was 100 something. It's definitely pulling the amps. I'm pretty sure the pitch on the prop is too much as it was setup for a 1520kv motor stock.

I think I'm going to take the 3 blade 36mm from the EKOS and see if that's a good place to start. The stock prop might be ruining the deal here.

Keep your run short and check temps. General rule of thumb I was taught was when going from a 2 blade to a 3, decrease diameter by 10%. Thats puts you to the 34mm range. You may heat up more?

Ah, OK. I'll use the 32mm prop then!

Yeah, I bought two for the EKOS and it came with an extra set of 32's.

The prop had a marking: 1.4 x 38. So I guess that answers it!
I have 34mm and 42mm two blade props coming. They're plastic, but should tell me what prop to order.

I'll try them in this order:

              34mm 2b
              32mm 3b
              38mm 2b
              36mm 3b
              42mm 2b

FYI- The total weight of this boat with ESC & Motor is: 1755 Grams. The Motor & ESC alone are 465 Grams. That's the complete setup, minus battery packs.

OK, heat is down, but it's still hot.

This mornings test went great. The water was like glass with a 3-4 knot current and little to no wind. Lowering the strut shaft into the water really helped settle the boat down. It's still jumping a little at top speed, but don't know if it's normal or not at this point.

Started out with 1 pass and checked temps, then 2, 3, 5 and then I did about 12 or so long fast passes, throttle wide open for 5-10 seconds, then slowed for a U-turn and repeat.

Should I try negative or positive shaft angle to help settle it down? It's not running very wet or dry, it's about in the middle from what I can tell. Still looks like it's lifting the boat out of the water creating the bouncing effect. MUCH IMPROVEMENT over yesterday.

ESC was 115 on the cooling plate and 155 on the side without the plate. See hatch photo, stern side of the ESC without cooling plate was really hot.

Motor was 90 or so. Wasn't even hot to the touch. Nice.

I'm still a little concerned about the ESC heat.

Try just a little positive, a degree at a time. BUT, before you do that, move your cog back a little bit. Get it closer to 7 and see what it does. Sounds like its still not COG'd quite right. Positive trim at the same cog may cause more bouncing? Glad to hear your moving forward on it.

The water is great today, so I played around with 4s for a bit.
Hit 40.1 mph, but the ESC hit 210 after 5 passes. 4s is too much for the single 2700kv, even with the small prop. The bouncing is almost completely gone and it's acting like a rocket now. Didn't get an amp reading as I unplugged the data box from the batt side instead of the ESC side. Ooops.

                        I'm re-configuring it to run on 125a ESC, 4s2p 30c 4kmah, 1520Kv, 38mm 1.4p 2b to get a baseline.

That's the completely stock setup, with stock ESC, Motor & Prop.
(yeah, I know, that's the first one I should have done. But I wanted to change everything ya know? =)

Amazing how much difference a lower Kv motor makes on amp draw!

It pulled 65a peak and 985 watts peak, it only went 33.2 mph though.

ESC was cool at 110 and the motor at 90.

Looks like this motor/ESC/Batt setup could use a bigger prop, higher Kv or more cells. Nice.

42's are on order. Only have the stock 38/2 & 36/3

                              Got real problems now though...

I changed receivers and was in the process of calibrating... It seemed like it was calibrated OK, but as I get ready to run it, I accidently bumped the Tx off switch and it defaulted to WIDE OPEN. Before I could get the hatch tape off the blade broke and bent the shaft!

I've never messed with these, so don't even know where to begin. Guess I get to learn about struts & drives!

HOLY frijoles! Havent seen that yet Ben! You can get a new 4mm shaft. Not sure if OSE would have it or not. My advice would be change out the bushings and shaft for 3/16. Then you dont have to deal w/ adapters and whatnot. You also proabably have to change out your cable and collet as well. Whole thing shipped form OSE should be somewhere in the $30. range

Or if you want a complete spare 4mm http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...%3DI%26otn%3D2
