Yes and I was also told that the sponsons were angled into the center making the front narrower than the back. Obviously from seeing them side by side I can make my own judgement on that. They both are great boats at a great price. What kind of power are you putting in the skunk?

    Thank you BTW.

The word on the street is, twins pull significantly less power since each motor and esc are now sharing the work. I was figuring Id be pulling, because of what I had been told and read, somewhere under 100 and above maybe 80A. But Im spiking 180... OR is it actually 90A? I just dont know.. I guess I have to get 6S seperate packs and run it like that to get real data.
        Tiqueman,

Mate i would be very careful running your eagle tree with both the lipos and esc's, motors connected to it.
They are only rated to 150amps.
Also when you turn your cat there will be more amps and load on the inside turning motor.
The best way to get very accurate readings is to run it throw 1 ecs and 1 motor at a time .
I tried your method with my Simrad twin and the readings where all over the place.
I now run the loggers separate to each motor and esc.
I bought myself 2 eagle tree loggers just for the cat , and also a gps unit.
It made it real easy to get my readings.
Here are a couple of pictures of my set up.
You don't have to buy 2 loggers . Just run 1 at a time to get your info.

The cat runs real nice mate, and thats a very impressive speed for that hull.
        Good work .

The Skunk will be built very similar to the HOTR. Couple minor changes here and there, but for the most part, identicle boats. I wasnt going to build the HOTR, I was going to just turn it around and sell it because of all the prep work that it needed just to get it to a "moving forward" project. Then I couldnt bring myself to listing it because I didnt want people to think I sold them a crap boat and didnt think Id even get what I had into it back out after explaining in detail everythign that needed done. After pondering it a bit, I thought, since I had never built a twin, Id build it and if I messed it up, I wouldnt care and Id resolve my mistakes on the Skunk... well, sometimes things go well and the HOTR came out better than I could have imagined. I will do some more testing and tuning w/ it and then it will probably be going up on the swap shop so I can first spend some funds on my HPR06. Not sure if I will just sell it a hull/ hrdwr or a complete package.

Thanks Ozzie. The speed is great, but in all honesty, what blows me a way even more than that is how she handles that speed. The last run I did w/ it, I decided Id push the limits a bit more than ususal, running back and forth over its own wakes at an angle at full throttle, turning across its wakes at 3/4 to full throttle... she didnt rock a bit let alone even bounce while crossing in a straight line. It was like they werent there. And it corners far better than I ever thought. Super super stable.

Hey Rick, I didnt even think about it when I hooked up the Eagletree. Never even crossed my mind. Just wasnt thinking. In my set up, I have no way of only running it to one side. If I did wire it that way, I would only be able to get 3S to each motor.

with the data logger i may be wrong but i thought the 150a was not a limit but what it will accurately read up to,same as the 100a will take more but its accuracy is to 100a,

so the moral of your story is you can turn a sows ear in to a silk purse, probably more satisfying that it started as a bomber as well.
on speed and handling, i had mine breaking 60mph but it was hit and miss
a lot was my lack of setup skills at the time (flipped a lot as it was my first real brushless boat that wasnt a micro) but i think there true potential is seen in a twin build, there is not the inline ruder/strut that causes some issues, not saying they dont run well on a single but imo hull is better suited to twins

I have to agree ozzie, the handling and stability out of this particular twin is just incredible.

Maybe some stage 5 hydroriffic motors form G-Freak with extra cooling tube and she'll see 70?

Man.. I hear that stuff has such an anti friction coating in it, it actually pulls water through even if its sitting still.

Patience grasshopper... its being prepped as we speak. the white epoxy paint to adhere to the glecoat is done, I need to tape the bottom off and use some filler primer on the sides and top. $00 grit that and it will be ready for color. Also still waitng on whats going on w/ those decals your brothers going to forget about

                            Paint

Paints about done. I have a little 1/4" x 1/4" spot to touch up where I missed a tape line and red got on the silver under the tunnel. I didnt notice it until I looked at the pictures. Theres a light coat of clear on it. I will wet sand it and then apply the decals, then clear it again. For spray bombs, it came out pretty good. Clear was shot thru a detail gun.

                                Thanks!

Scuff the hull very well , then spray on a few coats of epoxy paint scuffing between each coat. I was told years ago epoxy paints as well as polyurethanes will stick to gelcoat w/ no primer. Anyway, after a final scuff on the epoxy, apply Duplicolor filler primer. Couple light coats to get any of the scratches out and keep following it w/ 400 grit. Then I spray bombed the silver. Taped a double line to create the red trim around the window and taped off for the sponson tips. Once that was sprayed, I removed the tape where the windshield would be and taped off the silver on the canopy canopy, then shot the dark grey metallic for the windshield. Untaped everything, waited a few hours and scuffed the entire boat w/ 400 and shot 2 light coats of Duplicolor clear. I will scuff it again, apply decals and hit it with another coat of clear to finish it off and seal up the decals.
