I bought one especially for that reason. I ended up not using it for the task purchased. Finally going to build out the Drifter S for a friend here on the forum and going to use it without the strut for a twin setup.

Finally got a full pull inNew rudder works fantastic! And I kept both props on and tight the whole run
And better yet.. It stayed wet side down the whole time.. barely.
Its quite windy out, running perpindicular to the wind it wanted to lift at times so it was hard to stay full throttle. I ran about 4 passes, then brough it in and checked temps. Motors were hottest at 119, batts were 91 and I found that I cant really get to the escs for temp readings... I got anywhere from 81 to 101 on 4 tries. I will work on getting a more accurate reading on them later. I had the GPS in and ran an incredible 2.4mph... ahh the gps didnt record speed accuratelySo, then it went back out running into the wind at half to 3/4 and kept full throttle running back with it. I did that 5 times. She handles so beautuifully. I had no camera man there.. wife wouldnt come w/ me to shoot vids.. but I did get a GPS reading. It was close to what I was thinking it might be... I thought low 60s.. It ran 59.7mph.
I got one of the Sport BEC by Dimension Eng., so hopefully that will lighten the load just a touch and release a tenth of a mph or so?
All the pics and back up BS to come shortlyComment

Short Vid
DaggersFL was in the area and stopped by so we shot a quick flick. Only had a few moments as were trying to get ready for tomorrows Easter festivities at teh house. Anyway, lots of Ducweed floating about so it was a lot of on and off the throttle, but you get the idea. It was hard to watch when the algae was coming up i the turns so I babied it through them, but It handles beautifully. GPS did not record

Ran the 442 prop today... a little long as I cooked an old etti 125 amp. The motor and cells were fine. Not sure what happend but she was hauling...got some video I will put up later.
I was sure I needed a 150 amp ESC. May go the cheap route with a 200 Mystery.
How warm were your ESCs and how long did you run?Comment

Its a good size pond, a little over 4 acres, but ducweed is all over 2/3 of it.
3 or 4 minutes, ESCs were 101F and 105F. Motors were 126F and 137F Batts were 99 and 100F.Comment

I found that I had a rough spot while turning the 8xl over. tore it down and will put new bearings in her. Maybe a bad spot, I don't know. Windings seem fine but do feel one small spot a little rougher but don't think that is a problem.
Are you using a battery pack on your with bec off? Considering one of those aquastar 120amp.Comment

Also Jeff, I havent Data logged any of my boats yet with my now 1 month old Eagle Tree... Im slacking... But Id go the 180A route. If FeCalc is remotely close to what an 8XL is pullin, your already around 110A on a 442. If a 642 works right for you, your in the 130s. I run a 150A in my single drive 32" cat on the 8XL. My goal for the week is to log that boat as well.Comment
