That's the right idea there.... don't cut until you know you want to keep it that way! :P

Normally you don't NEED a thrust bearing, but with your big boat and the chinese motor (Mine has quite a bit of play, so the rotor would be pushed past the stator field and lose lots of power) i'd say it would be necessary for efficiency and longevity.

Don't you have a prop you can put on the shaft? See where the prop lines up on the shaft, the bottom of the hub should be even or slightly above the bottom of the hull.

yeah i have 2 of them the hub of the prop sits just above the bottom of the V ill through up some pics in a bit, and as for the motor it has lots of play in it so it would probley not hurt to have the thrust bearing in there..

I might be inclined just to try the 38mm as it is now...

Have you gotten a rudder yet? You're almost done!

yeah i have the rudder but going to have to make an extion for it the one it came with is to short so that will be on the list of things to do, tomarrow going to work on the support for the front part of the shaft and order that thrust bearing some time this week and maybe some trim tabs to boot..

Give me a basic drawing with measurements and I'll fab up an extension for you. I'm always looking for an excuse to use my drill press. You got the proboat rudder?

As for trim tabs, if you don't need 'em why use 'em. I'd try the boat first then adjust CG to get it to run right before you think about trim tabs.

Probably around $55-$65 for custom machining...... :P

All I need is your address, no compensation necessary.

I can guarantee the accuracy of my drilling, but I can't guarantee he accuracy of your measuring (no offense, it's just hard to measure CTC, I can barely do it).

                        Villian Nitro Vee

Did you get any more done?

I put some time into mine this weekend. I decided to keep a steerable out-drive just cause that is what I liked about the Villain in the first place. As you can see everything off a blackjack26. It made it a lot easier to do. I did have to cut at the side plates for the motor mount otherwise the servo might have become permanent. The block in front of the motor is where the esc will mount. The esc for the blackjack is big and heavy so I wanted to make sure I had a good mounting spot. The lipos are just small enough that the will be able to slide from the servo all the way in front of the esc for balance.

Anyway, looking forward to updates on yours.

Im not sure if you knew I was being sarcastic or not, I could never charge $50 for a rudder extension!

That looks like a good conversion! I don't know how the outdrive will hold up, most people get extreme vibrations at speed.

                              Thanks Jon
I have an octura strut\rudder if the outdrive becomes a problem. I just need it to hold up for some fun before I finish my Titan 29.

Nice work Dragonturbo.............. Color is very nice as well. You may want to consider a flex shaft/adjustable stinger..............unfortunately your outdrive is a major speed robber....................What size motor is that? Took my Villain out over the weekend, got a vid (all in continuity, and on youtube) and did 37.6. I havent seen one faster yet.................something to shoot for in friendly competitiveness

                                Nice work 20psinow as well!
