Thanks, it is actually a scratch built balsa cat from a set of plans designed by Shockerman. I made this one 27" and stretched the width by 10%, so it is more like 9" wide. Powered by my favorite Proboat motor on 5S the thing is one of the most fun boats I have. I have just finished the graphics - you probably guessed, the Miss Geico. will post pics as soon as I finish the hatch.

Anyway the design is nice and realistic .
Do you know a website which explains the method to reinforce the bottom of the hull with carbon. I' m a newbie with that kind of materials. Thanks

This cat is a cheap project, only for fun I really think this offshore will be fast and fun
Hull + rudder and strut + motor + water colling jacket + aluminium motor mount + ESC 200A HiModel
This is the price for HM Agitator hull alone with shipping cost

I have mine coming sometime in the week,
I have gathered links that were helpful to me; maybe they can help you out,
If with your setup, the boat is not stable, you have the option of installing a flap or this:
from your post, i get that you live in france, so do i (Paris), in the french ebay, look for :
Tissu de carbone sergé 200g/m2 2/2 3k, 1250 par 300mm
It’s enough width and plenty length.
I will go with 2 setups,
feigao 8xl , 6s and 8s (only for a speed test)on an Octura x642 and Octura v935/3
and a lighter setup with a neu 1512 2d on 4s and 6s (only for a speed test)on the same props.
speed control etti 150amps, and for the 8s setup: etti 100 amp HV
I will post soon on a new thread, the process of the build.
but I prefer to reinforce under the motor only. It will be OK
The gelcoat will crack.
You need to reinforce, the hatch, the motor base (like you said) but would be wise to reinforce all the area of the opening..

Believe me it will not be ok, if your goal is to reach even 40 mph
The gelcoat will crack.

Great results require great risks my friend,
The motor will be of course equipped with ceramic bearings, the thing you have to understand is that this experiment is for a speed test, and not endurance, 2 maybe 3 passes
The motor will be equipped of course with temp sensors; everything will try to be under control.
Is it safe? Of course not, pushing electronics to their limits is of course ever guaranteed.
and you are right, feigao will probably not run 8s or if it does, with a smaller prop

I' m agrre a 8 turns motor with 8S batteries, your motor will take 60000 RPM , that's too much
On the video this is 6S, not 8SComment
