It seems that it has to do with disrespect for the court. I was in court watching one day, when the Judge said to the defendant, "If you come to court again in with a baseball jersey on, I'll lock you up". I dont think he could, but it would have scared me if I was the guy.

How the hell can we give any one man the power to imprison someone for this kind of B.S.? This is ridiculous. That judge deserves a slap in the mouth..... seriously!

I'd say a day for, I guess disrespect.

Contempt of court is a serious offense, as bad as perjury imho.

          Think about it.

It was due to disrespect BUT... nonetheless VERY over the top.
It seems to me that this judge had lack of respect from others while
growing up and ever since he got power he's making up for "lost time".
As one can read in the article, he has a much higher rate of incarceration
of people that did something in his court, spectators that is.
If I was in the judges rope, I'd probably slap the guy with 3 to 7 days in jail
for disrespect... maybe that way he'd learn some respect since he didn't listen
to his mother.. but it's hard to tell, since I was not present.
Respect for the next is something that is lacking in society in general, maybe
there should be more judges like this one (in a more moderate version of course).
