The lakes/parks I go to there are always a lot of people fishing all the time. Do you guys not run to respect the people fishing or say screw it it's a public place I'm running anyways. I try to stay away from the shores that people are fishing on but idk if it matters. Anyone ever get yelled at by someone?
Who runs when people are fishing?

The damned fishermen think they own the lakes round here, I did run on a lake were people were fishing once, not in front of them risking their lines and my ESC but it is not a huge lake and there were worm drowners all around it so I was probably within 100yards of the closest, a group of them came over as I was charging up after my first run and rather impolitely explained that I was scaring their fish away and what would happen if I put my boat back in, I did not have another run and have not been back there since, as I am rather attached to my testicles and hope to remain that way. While it is a public lake with provision on the bylaws for model boats I do see their point of view (though I wholly disapprove of the way they put it) if there is 20 fishermen around a lake that have all paid £10 for that days pitch it is not really fair that one boater can come along, pay nothing, and scare their fish away so they catch nothing, we need to have separate days for boating and fishing but us boaters cant compete with the amount of money fishermen put into it, even if there was 4 FE boaters in town we would have to pay £50 a day to get our daily fees the same which I cant afford, then you add the rod licence on top of that, and there are probably 1000 people in town paying for the possibility of using local lakes and that lake will be getting a cut of that too (Fishing is the most popular participatory "sport" in England), if we wanted to get it to ourselves on a Sunday I bet we would have to raise near £1000 to outbid the fishermen.
However worm drowners do seem to like shooting fish in barrels, and there is a fishing lake fairly close to me that is just a natural lake and there is a stocked lake close by so I run my boats in the natural lake from time to time and have never seen a fisherman there, as they are all at the stocked lake down the road.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing. -
I run when they fish,
And they fish when I run.
I ask if they got any bites or fish yet,
And I do try to stay away from there lines to and they try to watch for me.
But there are boats and jet ski and kayak in and out of the lake from time to time.
So I just do my thing and they can do theirs to,
If the fish are hungry they will feed.
This is one of the lakes that I run at with ever body else there and we look out for each other.
Most of the time I have the place to my self,
But it is a lot of fun when the 1970 454 jet boat is there to for some nice chop.

The pond I run on is in a corporate office park. In a strange twist of luck, RC boaters are welcome and fishermen are not. Signs posted everywhere "no fishing" and still they come. The local cops stop by and run them off, but they leave me alone. They sometimes want to chat about my models tell me to be careful. So, for once, I don't have to be the one who gives right of way on the pond. I don't antagonize, but I run my rigs whenever and where ever I please. It's pretty awesome!Comment

If they are there first I try to keep away, if we are ther first and they set up near us thats their problem not mine. A couple of seasons ago had a group of asians pretty much decide they were fishing in out pits, we were already set up and running... oh well not so many perch and sunfish died that day.......If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

fisherman think the fish get scared. really the fish dont care. fish arent as intelligent as these folks make them out to be. i guess they like to think they're outsmarting some genius of the animal world, but its not. the whole sport is beyond my capacity. mostly, i see people getting drunk and tangling their lines up. yeah that looks like fun....Comment

The places I run often time have people fishing. I try to stay far enough away from their lines and area. However they sometimes move around and I still try to stay away to an extent. For instance I wont run in that corner of the pond because they are fishing it. Now if they move over where Im actively running I dont care- Im running their.
If they show up to fish and Im running I dont care. I was their first.
If I show up and their are to many people fishing and no place for me to run I put my tale between my legs and retreat.42" Osprey, 32" Pursuit, 26" Bling Rocket (rescue), Blizzard Rigger, JAE 21FE rigger, Hobby King rigger (RIP)Comment

For my 0.02 worth, public places are just that for public use, first in, first use. That being said if everyone respects each others place/right to be there and use the water then all will be good. Unfortunately....people being people they can get a bit selfish, which can lead to getting kicked off waters! It happens. The two biggest issues that model boating faces are water to run on and people/personality problems. It amazes me when grown men can act like teenage girls...yet it still happens! I guess be friendly and courteous and enjoy your boating where ever you run.NZMPBA 2013, 2016 Open Electric Champion. NZMPBA 2016 P Offshore Champion.

The taxes i pay, as long you do not tangle in their lines and stay a fair distance should not be a problem.
besides if somebody threatens you for any reason nowadays is asking for trouble.

Really I do the same as what most do. It's all about some respect to others and simple common sense. I have to deal with fishermen, jet skis, boaters, and swimmers. If any are there first I respect that and wait. If I'm running and they come close, well it's their problem and I expect their respect. Swimmers are always kept at a distance and respected. It's very rare we have any problems, and where we are the other side of river has some of the best holes for fishing. Plus my 100mph+ saw boat (little rc toy to some) gets even the grumpiest anglers to ask what the hell is that. And they ask if I ever went trolling with one. Plus having a beer in hand helps :). Lol.
Just common sense and respect to others, if you are ever unsure just ask yourself if it would bother you. And if it would then don't do it to them.Comment
