    Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha Dies at 77

    Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. John Murtha, the first veteran of the Vietnam war to enter Congress and one of the House's most powerful lawmakers, died Monday afternoon at Virginia Hospital Center after complications from gallbladder surgery. Murtha was 77.

    He died at a way too early age. Tough ole bird. Strong on defense and a true leader. On a side note I hear that Norm Dicks is going to be the next possible choice. Good thing for us here in Washington state. One of his staff is an aquintence of mine and Rep. Dicks is a good choice IMO.

      Worse, it appears to be a surgical error that was the root cause. Nicked his intestines during the surgery which caused the infection that killed him.
