We need to start a "Throw the bums out!" movement. All of them. Republicrats and Demicans alike. Yes, there may be a few good ones, but they all get corrupted by power.

I'm simply amazed that they continue to pass laws for us, the "little people" and exempt themselves from those same laws. I thought we overthrew aristocracy in 1776.

I've said this many times before, I'll say it again: A bunch of guys threw a load of tea in a harbor a long time ago because of outrageous taxes. Does anybody know what the tax rate on tea was?

LOL..... Dom. I can tell you one thing I'll feel after I see how much is deducted from the 36 hours of over time I worked last week.. BENT OVER. 26 hours of double time 10 hours of time and a half I bet they take 55% if not more.

I think his point was he was going to get hosed from his OT worked as an example to the 3% Tea Tax that got the ball rolling initialy.

Your right he is not getting smacked at 55%. But we all get hosed on working OT above our normal 40 hr work week. The tax on OT is calculated at 28%. Then you pay an additional 7.65% Federal Pay Roll tax, AND your employer pays another additional 7.65% on that same hour. THEN he's getting hosed with another 5.5% State Income Tax. So that makes it a 41% tax liability directly out of his pocket and if you look at the total amount of taxes paid on the time worked it works out to 48.8%! Thats almost half of every dollar earned. Its totally absurd. And I didnt cover a retirement deduction based upon annual income percentage like some of us have. Yes it is deducted before taxes (usually) but its still missing from that paycheck because he earned more.

And yet when I hear stories from my Canadian inlaws of their income burden I cringe even more. It almost makes you want to just sit on the couch, turn the channels and wait for whatever free money you can apply for and get, coming in without lifting a finger (except for turning the channels).

On the subject of taxes in other places, while it is true they are higher it is also true that you have fewer out of pocket expenses. A good friend of mine is French. His only real expenses are for his house and car. No worries about health care, school costs, retirement, etc.

If you added in what you need to spend/save for your health insurance, education funds for your kids, retirement, etc. I think you might find that your overall burden is in fact higher.

I don't think that most account for all of the additional "fees" that are regulated by the US Governement that aren't considered in calculating out "tax burden"... Usage fees, access fees (on our phone bills, etc.)... fees here, fees there... All taxes in disguise...

The final storm of last year I had 1100 gross in OT, witch put my over all at 3100. I cleared 1900 and change. In cert vomit here "_______". This checks is going to be an "Obamanation"..

Our children will have that burden dumped on them. lets see how much more of the tarp money he hands out with no accountability. That coupled with any more bright ideas may have more out of our pockets before we are rid of him. On the bright side he can always blame Bush in the end. The tax code doesn't have to change, they just add a fee here or a increased fee somewhere else. Mitt Romney was famous for that. He never increase our taxes, just fee'd us to death.

My favorite taxes have to do with motor vehicle infractions. $200, $300 fines. These are done to "try" to get people to obey the law. Want to get them to obey, instead of a fine, take away their right to drive for a month.

I don't know if the TARP funds did any good or not. Was it abused? We all know that answer. But AIG doesn't think so.
That old crap that they need to give out big bonuses to retain talent...Where was that talent when the company was going south? Have they looked at the job market? Do they really believe that there are really that many high paying opportunities out there? It's really time to call their bluff. Same Rant different target.
