Here in the midwest, last winter was cold, spring was cool as well, and to top it off we had the coolest August EVER recorded in Cedar Rapids IA. (where I live).
I'm not making a broader judgment here, but, if global warming is occurring, it is certainly avoiding Iowa this year. -

You, along with many others, confuse your local weather with global climate. And your weather is entirely consistent with the predicted results of global warming, weather instability. Colder than normal in some place, hotter others. Wetter or drier, etc. Out of the ordinary weather is one result of global warming.
To try to correct this confusion many climate scientists are now using the more accurate term "global climate change". Of course they then get attacked for that.
As far as the concern for data, all I can say Jay is that the (false) alarm is more the result of not understanding how scientists work than it is some nefarious plot to take your SUV away from you.
This is a pretty good summary of what climate is as opposed to weather.

Bill, I merely posted what the temperature has been like over the past year where I live.
I then said that I am not making any broader judgments based on that. (did you miss that part?) I wouldn't want to assume you are confused.
Now you claim I'm confused about the difference between local and global climate?
I thought my first post was pretty clear, so I guess other members should not post what their local weather has been like in 2009 so you don't assume they are confused as wellComment

There are facts from many scientist that say you can not judge one, two or even ten seasons to gain the info they have done on global warming. It does make sense as we are destroying our ozone layer.
Do I believe...well I do know we are putting more crap in the air than any other time of this planet's history. We do need to make changes but I am not worried in my lifetime, my kids or their kids' time.
Do I freak on this crap and Al Gore...no...they just need another stage to playout their performances.Comment

Exactly, Rumdog. I could not agree more. We are destroying it there is no doubt about it.
Go see 2012 the movie...very cool.Comment

Volcano produces: carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrochloric acid (HCl), methane (CH4), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen (N2), & sulfur gases
Cars emit: Hydrocarbons, Nitrogen oxides and Carbon monoxide."A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."

In 1980, when Mt. St. Helens errupted, they TOLD us the weather would be affected dramatically for the next 10 years or so... How many have errupted since then???
