hi there i need some help i was wondering if i could charge my lipos at 7amps on my onyx 230 or do i have to keep charging them at 4 amps like the guys at the hobby store recomended. I have two 4000mah 2s 35c hyperion swift hard packs. thanks for your help regarding this.

Your charger will do it. you would use 58.8w and you have a 70w charger. **BUT** i don't think your batteries are recommended to charge at over 1C (4amp) the G3's are the ones the have a 5c charge rate. find out what the max charge rate for your lipos are.

thanks for your reply but its funny because i just looked at the orignal boxes they came in and there is a small sticker over something. the sticker says "do not exceed 5c charge" but under the sticker it says" do not exceed 2c charge. im confused what is 2c and 5c charge .

for your case in short. you have a 4000mah lipo. charging at 4amp is 1c. 2c you would charge at 8amp. 3c would be 12amp and so on. but there is more to it than that. maybe someone can explain it better than I can.

so that being said than 2c = 8amp ......im safe charging the lipos at 7 amps then right im not exceeding the 2c charge rate on the box under that sticker that says 5c

you would be charging at 1.75 so yes it is less. ***BUT*** I would not do it unless you are 1000% sure of the max charge rate**** they put those rate's on there for a good reason don't find out the hard way and don't leave them unattended.

so i guess charging at 5 amps wont hurt the lipos but will really cut on charging times cos it takes 62 min. at 4 amps.(each lipo) 2 hours between runs with my ul-1.

Did you ever think about charging in series, then you could charge both lipos in the time it takes one. Charge as a 4s not 2s

Just get a series connector form the lhs or make one.

ok well i looked into that series idea..........but.........the onyx 230 only does 1-3 cell lipos so i guess thats not going to work.
