Hi everyone,
I just got the mini rio and it should be here this tuesday and I've been doing alot of reading on upgrading to a brushless system however I have been only finding bits of information and am unable to see the whole picture since I've never done this before.

So far here is what i've have:

I am thining about this motor: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=4201

This ESC:

A snag I've hit is trying to figure out which lipo battery I can use, That motor says 6-12V so I wasn't sure if the 11.1V was as safe to use as the 7.4V. Or if it is possile to use a higher mAh as long as the # of cells and volts are safe?

Here are the 3 batteries I've found so far:

http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=8933
http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=9165

The next problem I have is I've heard that the default radio system that comes with the MR cannot be used when you upgrade so what is a cheap alternative and where can you get it?

I then heard that you need a dean connector to hook the battery, esc, and motor together but I'm not sure which one.

And finally, i'm not sure how to sure how to wire everything together correctly (connectors, correct order and anything else like that).

If anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the FE Boat world.

I have one for sale that has the motor you are looking at above. The esc in my build is the boat version of one you link to above. The info may be helpful to you as well.

For a radio, I have a Hitec AM radio and receiver that is in as new condition and has been run in this rio.

I ran my setup on 3s 11.1v 1050mah lipo and it goes 40mph...may a bit more.

A ton of fun.

Lets talk.
