i have a villain ex with 19 turn komodo motors , and im running 2 4200 7 cell batts ,
i fried a capacator in my esc replaced it ran fine for 10 min and quit again . shouldnt that novak esc handle this ? or do i need to upgrade to the superduty? any duel motor esc suggestions would be great!!!!:)

if its dying on you, i would definately upgrade to an esc that can handle the amount of cells and the # of turns of the motors..

I would think it would handle them. It handles the trinity monster motors. You may want to change the gearing and retest.

but are you running 6 or 7 cell packs?

I wouldn't personally trust the EVX esc past 12 cells with the 19t motors in a marine application, I have two villains that I installed the super duty xr in. One with trinity monster big block 12t and the other with big block 14t motors. The super duty handled the low turn motors without any problems, even when the driveline on one side bound up and overheated the motor to the point that it burned the com beyond repair and melted the solder off the motor connections!

so your talking about the novak super duty do you have any pics?

Yes it is the novak, I could take some pics and send them to you or post them on this thread.

Here's a pic, it has the same footprint as the EVX, pretty easy to install.

balance & sharpen? whats in your boat?
also i just bought a m tronics brushless motor esc comb. will that work good in a graupner b24 ? ive got a shockwave 26 coming but is that going to be a waste of time .

I'll get some more pics posted tonight or tomorrow, I'm now running trinity monster maxx wild motors with 12 tooth pinions, graupner u-joints, offshore's carbon fiber upgrade props and x447 octura props. I've also added trim tab/turn fin combos that help alot with turning and straight line stability. The props aren't hard to finish, but it does take patience. I don't have any experience with the mtronics or the other two hulls you mentioned, hopefully some of the other members can help you there!

Here's the pics, The esc is a breeze to wire, though positioning it in place can be a little tricky. the key is to use a little grease on the wires where they pass through the boot seal. This makes it easier to position the esc after the wiring boot seal is popped back into the electronics box.

have you ever tried 7 cells?

RMZDADDY

The tab/fin combos came from Offshore, listed under drive hardware. They need the mounting surface cut down some to fit the transom properly, I just used some tinsnips and a file. The aluminum props are ok, not quite as durable as brass, but they are easier to sharpen and balance. I like the carbon props alot, no balancing needed with comparable performance.
The Maxx motors I am running now are 19t, I found with the 12t and 14t stability was an issue. Don't get me wrong, it was fun but I can't tell you how many times they wound up upside down in the water!
I have run 7 cell packs with the current setup, thats all I ran with the lower turn motors. Since my focus has shifted towards brushless powered hulls I'm more content running 12 cells in the villains, the motors will live longer! I'll get a video clip of the 12t setup with 14 cells on rcflix, I'll link to it on this thread, its pretty wild!
