I hope you guys are not trying to run the stock UL-1 controller on 5S?!?!?!?!?!?!? I don't think that is what it was designed for...

Exactly what the title says- stock ul-1. Have been running 5s on 3 of my sv's for over a year now. As long as your careful and watch your temps, you'll be fine

what about the cut off voltage on the UL-1 esc its set for 12 volts , that will kill your 5s set up if your not careful . i only bring this up for the newbes thinking they can run 5s with no problems ...

if one always runs your boat till the lvc kicks in, they could be taking their batteries down to far and hurting them..
runs should always be timed.. :cool2:

I never run till cut off on 4s unless you want to puff the batts, and i would absolutely never run on 5s for more than a few laps.

there's no way for the esc to detect over voltage. And those esc's are rated to 20 volts. Something's probably wrong w/ your 3s connector

not sure?
I even put on a BEC and still it studders.. :confused2:

Take off the bec- thats prob the problem. The stock ones handle it fine, like i said thery'r rated for 20 volts and ive been doin it on the 45a ones forever. Like i said before watch temps and short run times and you'll be fine

the BEC is not the problem just added insurance... :thumbup1:
it did this before I put it on..
I'm thinking its my lame 12c batteries that's causing me issues..
when I run 4s I have some nice 30c packs that get me 50mph
Think I will put in an order for some good 3s packs this week, maybe zippies

Ok I tried my new 2s and 3s 30c packs and dang!
I was running a S220 prop and this boat shot out of the water and was a handfull to get to top speed.. It kept lifting the left sponson up and out of the water.. Looked cool, nuts power!

after about two minutes my UL-1 took off all by itself? :cursing:
come to find out my external BEC was only rated to 3s! :w00t:
and when I put 4s to it and took off the bec, some smoke came from my rx!

How is an external bec rated at 3s? Why not just run a rx pack?

6S HYDRO
09-08-2009, 01:45 PM
you guys dont need any bec. stock bec in the esc works perfectly- even at 5s

That's how is was made..
I though I bought a 6s BEC, but the burnt rx said not!

6S HYDRO

if it burnt the rx that means the bec was putting out to much volts/amps to the receiver. like i said the esc's bec works great-no need for an external

Yes yes yes...
I put on the BEC because of the issues that came with the first batch of escs I read about.. a little added insurance, so I thought

but I'm going to give my UL-1 a try on 5s and the stock esc

I've read about these. Tell me again what this does for the esc :beerchug:

they are the weak link to the esc not the bec. you need to add on to the origional cap. i will try to get you piks of mine, but there are many on this forum

somthing is wrong with your setup, or your in really bad waves, like on a full size lake or the ocean.
