I am running 4s2p 5000 mah packs (10000mah) in a 26" r2hobbies hydro hull with a Feigao 540 8XL motor running a 40x55 grim racer prop with a LV Hydra 240.
To measure amps I use an eagle tree micro logger V3 and due to the cable set up on the hydra I can only hook up to one of the two packs for a reading. I saw 58 peak amps using the LCD screen readout .
So...am I drawing 58 amps total or 116 amps ?? I asked the guys at the pond and got conflicting answers ....I believe I am drawing 116 amps but at least one opinion was that since they are parallel that the 58 amps was all the esc was seeing.

thanks
Steve

If they are in parallel and you are reading from one pack. I would say 116 amps. That is because the amps are dvided by the number of current paths. Here is a good explanation... http://www.electronics-lab.com/articles/basics/theory/parallel.htm

Thanks for the link....it answered my question under parallel circuits:
"If one path is drawing 1 amp and the other is drawing 1 amp then the total is 2 amps at the source."

thanks for taking the time to reply
