So I have decided to sell my Hammer that I just put a new ESC in because I found an Excellent deal on Used SV27 on eBay. Bought it and now have it in hand. Looks like the guy I bought it from didn't run it very much at all, and looks to be in good condition, albeit a bit dirty and some of the mounts are slightly corroded, trim tabs, starboard turn fin and drive shift, pretty much all the mounts at the back.

What is the best way to clean the inside of the hull? Looks like there might be a bit of mildew (or it might be grease) small black spot by the motor mount and the cowl has a couple as well. It has a weird smell to it, not electric and not really mildew, not sure could be fiberglass. I was thinking of using a diluted bleach solution to make sure if it is mildew that I kill it and get it clean. To clean the mounts I was planning on sanding the corrosion off, or should I just replace them? I am getting the new trim tab adjusters, antennae mount and latch kit to replace the stock stuff. Also going to get some new props (not exactly sure which ones yet). I am also planning on replacing the tubing with aquarium air tubing for use with the new water pickup on the trim tab adjusters.

Last thing, I know how to clean a brushed motor, but what about the brushless in the SV?

Thanks for any pointers.

"The black stuff"could be grease from flex shaft. (when it turns 30000rpmĀ“s the grease will fly around. I clean it with denat.alchohol or wd-40.

The smell could be that grease or just fiberglass. It could be something else too.(cant smell it that well from here)

Corroded parts can be sanded and painted(but the paint may not stick that well on alloy parts) They can be anodized again, but that is quite difficult to do . If you want to do something different you could deanodize the alloy parts and polish them.

Latch kit? -The kintec hatch lock is good.

Aquarium tube should work if it fits.

And cleaning a motor is not allways wise, i destroyed one sv can when cleaning it.(the motorspray destroyed the glue that holds the windings on).

I would just lube the bearings, and if you got the time and $ maybe change the bearings .(the 2 pins on can must be pressed in and it can be pulled apart).

I like that X642 in that pic(well, it is mine after all  ), it goes nice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaVeWKUT_Lg&feature=channel_page

(and even faster, but it ends with me losing my gps :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A0SY_LyZho&feature=channel_page )

Yup, polishing is worth the efford.

I did not want to make mine that shiny, cause my boat was "stealth" -matte black and shiny hardware is not that stealth

Understandable.

i thought i would be different with mine, kept a few parts blue.
Adds some accent i think.

My next major change is going to be paint.
I want to leave everything on the hull from the waterline down green and paint everything above the water line black.

I would like to brew up some sort of green design for the bow of the boat but am not sure on what im going to do.
