I have an ETTI 70 amp ESC and it has 14 gauge wires (Red and Black) battery leads. I would like to run a jumper wire to run two packs in parallel...does the jumper wire need to be 14 gauge as well? Also, do I need to match the jumper wire length to the ESC wire length? I will be using Deans connectors...

Thanks!

It would be adviseable to keep all things equal. smaller guage wire usually means more resistance to current flow.
Take a look here. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/wiring.php

I'm a little confused. "A jumper wire" or run another set of positive and negative cables? If from the ESC, or adapter, keep them equal. You want to get the full current flow from both batteries.

Sorry Dom, I meant series...

Thanks for the diagram and your help on this!

So, use the same gauge wire to keep an even amount of current draw...correct?

I would use a larger wire. In a series circuit, all resistances are accumalative. R1+R2+R3=Rtotal. If you reduce the Rtotal, more current can flow thru the circuit. Let's say you lower the resistance of R2. Then the Rtotal will be decreased as well. However this is just basic. There are other factors to consider, but not pertinent to this.

Thanks Dom! I think I understand what you are saying now.
