Hey Guys, need some help from the pros!

I just acquired a UL-1, it has a 6xl in it, and I plan to run 4s lipo. Not looking for a speed demon, 50mph max.

Looking at props, the octura x438 looks to be about right, but I wounder if the Grimracer L38x55 would be a better choice. They appear to be very similar in spec.

I see that the grimracer is listed as a lifting prop, and I thought that was what you had to use on a hydro (this is my first hydro) but I also see that the UL-1 runs the same prop that the supervee does stock, so I am a bit confused...

Please steer me in the right direction, I just put around the local pond, so good temps and runtime beat speed for me!

Thanks!

Unfortunately your setup is not going to be reliable, cool running or have very much run time. The Feigao 6XL has a Kv of 2779 and will spin around 41,000 rpm with a reasonable amp draw on 4S. With an x438 prop you'd be running around 67 mph - way way way too fast for that boat to stay on the water. Expect to be buying ESCs regularly too.

You could run 3S, but then you'd need a different ESC. You would be far better served by getting the original UL-1 motor and selling the 6XL. Sorry........

I do not have the stock UL-1 speed control, so I can run 3s. Not a big fan of low voltage setups, but I do have a pair of 4500 30c 3s polyquest lipos that I can run in parallel to get some runtime.

Would the x438 prop be suitable for use with that motor on 3s?

I know a lower kv motor and 4s would be preferable, but I do not mind doing some experimenting! Now that I am looking, a suitable 4s motor with around 1800-2000kv, correct

With the new batteries I would look for 1500 rpm/v max

Isn't the stock motor 2030kv?
