Hello. I'm from Poland. I have 32" catamaran powered by Medusa Afterburner 36-80 1100kV and 8S 5000mAh Zippy Li-po (yes, I like HV )

This is my video on X642 prop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a98BHqrhQig Run time about 20 minutes on this prop and motor had 40-50 C degres. Weight 2840g. ESC Turnigy Sentilon 100A HV.

Today I will test it on X646 prop

20 mins runtime? Are you paralleling the packs? That is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time!
;)
Nice setup it seems to be running well, welcome to the forum.

Hello. Yes, it's about 20 minute run time, not all on full thorttle, but I think on full throtle will be 12-15 minutes.

No, packs are not parallel. Is 2 Zippy Flightmax 5000 4S in series, all 5000mAh 8S.

Now I will test on X646 prop, it will run faster

Hello. Yes, it is in Poland, in Warsaw "Pola Mokotowskie"

Today test on X646 was great, speed is increase, but it have less stability (it must have more weight on left). Movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJY40BBeLNI

I don't have GPS to measure speed. But I make straight 130m. route. From stand start it make it in 5.9 second (this lake is about 150 m. long, i must have place to brake  ), this is about 80 km/h average, i think, is 90-100 km/h maximum speed

But motor and esc do not have more than 50-60 C degrees. It can have propeller with more pitch, not diameter. Or I must buy X648 or bigger and reduce it to 44-45mm diameter. Or I can try 10S li-po

Regards Karol

I have a 31" cat with the fieago 9T 580L, 2-3cell 4000mah lipos in series, 150 etti esc with athe octura x648 prop. The best run I had was 40 mph (64.37kmh) How are all you guys getting your boats to reach the speeds you ara acheiving. I have tried everything I can think of. Is there a secret to this? LOL:confused2:

do you have pics of your setup, if your running 6s with that motor and prop i would have thought speeds would be a lot higher

Hello. Is not any secret  Is only power and regulation. For me Feigao is not a good motor, I had 5 feigao's, from 380 to 540XL and all of it was too weak for price. What is yout boat weight?

Earlier I have in this boat KB 45 motor 1000KV and on the same prop it draws about 60-80A and was to hot-demagnetised rotor, not 30-40A and 50C. degres. Now my boat is faster with smaller, very good motor  and about half of amperage

I like Medusa and Neu motors, medusa is about in half price of Neu and is good enough to ride well. Mabye you can try replace motor for medusa 36-80 1600kV or Neu 1515 2D, 2,5D or 1,5y. Neu will have more torque than medusa (bigger can) and run cooler.

P.S Yesterday I had a little flood in my boat-broken one silicone tube for cooling :(

Sorry for my English

his motor shouldnt be the problem unless its faulty, 580l has a lot more torque than the 540 xl

Thanks guys, Ill get some pics really soon, and hopfully a vid as well. I know there are better motors out there, but I already have around $900.00 in this build. I bought everything a little at a time and it took me about 7 months to finally get it to run. Its just kind of disapointing you know. But Ill try to get some pics tonight.:tiphat:

The medusa dealer in the US doesn't sell anything but the 36-50 motors. I emailed them to let them know they're missin the boat! (pun intended)

What is the price difference from a dealer to themselves?

http://www.medusaproducts.com/motors/036-v2.htm

all the way to the bottom, I tried adding it to the cart just to see if it would work... it did, even when they are out of stock (3680/1100)...

That's weird! I was on their site earlier today and didn't see anything but the 3650's! When I went back on just now, there is an Afterburner V2 section. That is where the 80mm's are! Guess I owe them an apology for my email? DOH!
Can't find any tech info on the motors such as are they 2 pole, 4 pole, 6 pole, etc. Anybody know?

Ken,how long did it take to get your motor?
I ordered 2 similar motors, out of stock at the time, and mine took approx 5 weeks to come.
I already have the MR-3670-2300V2SE-5 and it runs very smooth and quiet.
Much smoother and cooler than the Fiegaos.

Crab, do you have any pictures of this cat and what prop did you use?

I dont have pics of the original cat here on my work PC but I do at home.
Prop was an X440/3 blade that has been worked a little. Cells were zippy R 2250mah 25c - 4s, i ran 2p to give me 4500mah

This Cat is its replacement as the original got destroyed on a fast blowover (Balsa and FE doesn't mix to well)

http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=7649

I have only run the new cat on 8xl 3 times, once for a trial run, then the two club champs races which I won both of in our P-Restricted offshore class (and subsequently the club champs)

I can upload the pics of the first cat when I get home, although its pretty much the same design with a couple of inches added to it for rough water. Narrow Tunnel for less lift for them rough days!

Hello. New season brings new setup of my boat. It is lighter and have new battery packs (turnigy 5000mAh 8S) and ESC (Castle creations Phoenix Ice 100 with homemade water cooling).

Also esc have a logger and the highest power is 3393,8W@121,5A@28V@27000RPM :D (on accelerating)

But on full speed is about 2700W@93A@29V@29000RPM :D Also sounds good

Next time mabye I can check real speed with GPS but it's look at a bit higher speed and more stabile.

Thanks Karol.

Any pics of the new setup with the Ice 100? My buddy is going to be trying the ICE 100 in one of his 4s boats and I am going to try a Ice 200 in one or two of my 6s hulls this season.

I would also like to see some pics and like to hear how the phoenix handled. What were the temps? At 120amps you're pushing the esc pretty hard...

Which packs exactly did you use(which c rating do they have)?
@18c voltage = 3.6v/cell
@24c voltage = 3.5v/cell
