Once I have them at my door I can figure out the final pricing. Alot of the cost depends on the cost of shipping to our store.

Outrunner motor. Remains to be seen on the performance end. Definitely a pretty little boat! Nice hardware. Love the little turn fin!

Why's everyone gotta be hung up on NAMBA racing classes and such? I really could give a crap! I race with friends and have plenty of fun. The rules and over organization take a lot of fun out of it for me. Minis are a blast!

sailr

I agree, but most people form clubs and join NAMBA to get the insurance the lake owner requires you to provide them. As far as NAMBA classes, any club can run any class they want. They can make up a class, you just can't get 'district points' and set NAMBA records unless it's an established NAMBA class.

I'm a big proponent of clubs. By having organized meets, you learn a lot from the other members, etc. But the vast majority of r/c boaters don't belong to anything. They have found a lake to run on that doesn't require anything and they just have fun! Nothing wrong with that.

I agree the minis are a blast but you and I unfortunately seem to be in the minority. They also require a lake that stays pretty calm so that's another restriction. Oh well!

I have to disagree! Sailr, your Minicat micro hydros handle some seriously rough conditions and with the weight of the battery placed a little forward, they don't flip readily either. Plus, now with the Eco hulls you are offering, the sport boater can have a blast without worrying about retrieval of a flipped boat.

If you haven't been watching on the forum and don't know what I'm talking about, look at what Sailr is offering for various clubs across the country and if you're not part of a club, start one!!! => http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=8438 POST #17

It's nice to be disagreed with when the news is good! Haha. Good to hear you're successfully running my little hydro on rough water!

I do need to correct you on one thing though, I'm only offering the 'special' on the Eco to people here on OSE, not clubs across the country. Not at this time anyway. I WILL offer a club special later after we get this first shipment of Mini ECO's in and enough of you guys are running them to give your opinion of the boat, etc. and we generate some demand! THEN I'll issue another production order to our factory to get more in stock.

I have been in touch with Delta Force HK. They have offered me these boats at cost, provided I buy 4 or more from them. The only issue I had was getting 4 or more guys interested in the deal. Shipping might be a logistical nightmare, as I am in Canada, and shipping to guys in different States across the line might raise the shipping cost more.

Guys, I have emailed DF HK to find out about the shipping logistics. Ideally it would make
sense to have everyone in the deal for the RTR/Kit for $180 US. But each pays his shipping cost to his respective mailing addresses. This way we don't have to incur additional charges specially going State side. But hopefully DK agrees with my email and gives me the go a head. Then I may extend the dateline longer for anyone else wanting in on the deal since there has been a lot of interest shown on this RTR. I have also requested the cost on the KIT for anyone wanting just the hull and parts minus the motor/esc. Please remember the RTR excludes radio/receiver just to be clear. Thx

I'm sure he is aware of this thread.

Also, you do have a bit of a conflict of intrest as well and have used the forums to push your products on occasion. Lets not forget that.

Look at it this way, we can be the guinnea pigs for these boats. If they turn out to be great, and we all will provide feedback, then Steve should be able to sell a bunch of them. If they turn out to be junk....maybe he won't carry them.

And there it is, as expected, the slam!

The difference is Steven also sells some of my products and I have asked his permission. I also don't offer to bring in something he sells and give it away for cost. I do NOT carry anything Steven does except my own products although I easily could. It's called mutual respect. And yes, he is aware of this thread and he is not happy about it but mostly that the DF people will sell to anybody.

OK, I've had my say. I'm out. Just stop and think guys! We don't want to lose this forum or hurt Steven's great business!

My two cents(literally lol).
First I would like to thank Jim for standing up for me. He and I have spoke of this issue, so he knows exactly where I stand.

This is a major thorn in my side. But it’s a thorn I can deal with. I don't blame a customer for trying to get a good deal. What does upset me to no end is a manufacturer selling to customers for the same cost as they are willing to sell to a dealer. I deal with this thread, I did what any grown boy should do when he has a problem, I went and found a shoulder to cry on(Jim's) lol

Why have I not closed the thread?
I've let many a thread like this go by untouched and unaltered, for the simple reason that I want a free flow of information, shared by all of us. In the end it helps all of us.

That would worry me as a potential buyer, if I had a problem with my purchase from the manufacturer.

Received an email from DF, they are currently out of stock at the moment. Have emailed them back to update me soon as they can get more RTR pulled aside for us. On as side note, they made a mistake and offered me their dealer pricing , but they will honour this deal for this order only. Everyone else will be paying around $350 or there abouts for these boats. Guys thanks for your orders, and you won't be regretting this ; Ever !!! :buttrock: :beerchug:

We ran it on an older 3S 2200 20 or 25C.. dont remember, twas Dags batt. Battery got a bit warm but everything else stayed pretty cool. This boats got a lot of potential.

I will measure that up too. I can tell you a Turnigy 3S 2650 is too long for the tray. Dont have the size of that batt handy but you can find it on hobbycity.com.
Batt tray is very wide though.

westbeach
03-21-2010, 08:19 PM
I have a couple of Flightmax 3S 2200 Lipos that measure 1" x4", which I think should sit in the tray comfortably. I believe the battery tray is also made to hold 6 cell packs. So almost any size lipo should sit sit in the tray properly unless they are longer than a 6 pack.

They really are incredible hulls and hardware. My one and ONLY beef is that you cannot adjust the stinger. So on modded boats.. which you know will be happening at any given time... I think the stinger will need replaced for propper tuning. Other than that its one bad lil machine. And its too bad because the stinger that is on it looks fantastic.

Yes, 22.2mph.

I have a 2650 3S that is too long (which is what I ran it on), but a 4500 3S that fits. A 5000 may not fit in the tray, but you can let it overhang a bit and strap it down as I did w/ the 2650.

Im hoping to try both the 4500 and 5K 3S on it i the next couple days.

2200KV ON 3s OF COURSE IT IS A TAD SLOW. i WOULD HAVE DROPPED oopps, caps...
in 4S 3500mah right from the start. 2200kv is a 4s wind if the motor and esc can take it.

I mentioned the Turnigy typhoon 2215, 4000kv on 2S would be a great hop up...

tiqueman
03-22-2010, 10:56 PM
Iv got a Turnigy water cooled 3600 Im thinking about w a 60A esc... or a 120 cause I have one.

the boat comes w/ no literature. Just a folded 1/2 piece of paper that says to tighten the turn fins and how to tighten the set screw to lock on the rudder. Thats about it. Seeing that all vids on DF were on 3S, and around 2200mah I think, thats what I based my set up off. Could it take more and handle it? Dunno, Havent got that far....

I dont think the esc will handle it. ??? But I dunno. I dont think I will try it. My only way to get 4S is two 2S 5000s... fit will be tight and its not worth blowing up a new boat to me. I think an esc change and motor swap may be the best bet.

No, I think 4S may be asking for potential trouble. Also I need a part for mine. When I installed the rudder, the conection of the tiller wouldnt fit right. If you snugged the screw that holds it to the tiller, it would keep it from spinning freely and bind up the steering. I left it a little less than snug and after that run from my video it came in a lttle less than complete. :ThumbsDown01: Easy fix, I have a new part to put on, just havent done it yet....
