I needed to "borrow" the UL-1 motor for my VS-1, so I stuck a spare SV-27 motor in the UL-1. Best combo I've run so far ! Not the fastest, but superb heat race setup ; great acceleration and good top speed [ estimate at @ mid to upper forties, nearly no chine wobble at all, gets up & out easily].

Setup : SV-27 motor
CC 80 watercooled w. Etti caps
M445 ; lower KV & lots of torque of SV 27 motor pulls this prop well
Elite 2S 35C 5000's splayed into sponsons [ picture taken before swap]
7 oz. lead ballast in front of tub
1 1/8 strut depth
Fuller's turn fin - full throttle turns with no hint of wobble
G-10 ride pads - pretty sure these contribute to the great cornering

Temps all reasonable, with more than enough runtime. Not an "all-out bonzai" top speed setup, but I'm sticking with this for antic-free fun running and heat racing.

That looks great! I love the battery idea. Should be fine I get no water at all in my tub or hull ever.

Great Info!

Love the battery setup, but surprised that you would need that much additional weight (7 oz.) up front with the CG moved forward also.

Did you have any issues using the M445 with the UL-1 motor?

Kept the nose down with the UL-1 motor & higher speeds

M445 violently fast ! Hold on to your hat !

I tried that same combo except I used the SV27 esc. Using m445 and other props motor temps got really hot...175 and up, but boat never died on water.

will the SV motor use less amps giving a little longer run times?
I have a spare SV motor, that I might give a try

Depends a lot on which prop you use. Go conservative.
