Need help with prop choice

Hey guys, i have a mean machine running on 4s2p, align 600xl rewound to ~2200kv, and a barracuda 125 esc. Currently running an x440/3 sharpened and balanced, but its just not running right. It barely gets on plane after cavitating excessively. I've tried the strut at different depths to no avail. I guess the motor is too much for the prop so it simply won't grab, so what would be a good prop to use for this motor? Thanks,

X440/3 might be a good choice as well.

The 440/3 is my favorite with this boat (thus far) but I run a Hydra 240 to give me some wiggle room with props. The Cuda 125 won't allow for as much prop testing so I would also recommend the X637 (43.8 mph average) the X440/3 averaged low 50's and temps were low. Make sure to set your timing to *normal on the Cuda 125, that will help keep temps down. (*= recommended factory setting)

I would also make sure your strut is set about 3/16" above the sponsons with about - 2 degrees on the prop. That could be the issue, not the actual prop itself.

hmm I will try this, i've been running it flat the whole time. You mean -2 degrees as in pointing down at the prop end right?

Bad idea, very few cats like lifting props like that one. Plus it's 1/8" shaft hole means a new prop shaft...the x442 or x637 are better choices. There can be problems with "rewound" motors, the actual Kv may not even be close to what you were told.

OP - You want to use about two degrees UP at the prop end to help lift the bows. If that's too much just go back to 1 degree or flat. To do this set the boat on a FLAT table and measure carefully. 3/16" to 1/4" above the sponsons is about right too. You will never get it set correctly trying to "eyeball it" without a flat reference.

another question my 440/3 has relief cuts, you think if i get a fresh 440/3 without these cuts and just sharpen & balance it would be better?

I've never heard nor seen that, try the prop as it is to see if that makes a difference before buying another.

I will have to check into this type of cut and get back to you. BTW thanks for the comps on the XS2.

Heres mine, basically the same setup as yours running the 440/3. you want the boat to ride on the back sponsons.

Missed that little 1/8 problem but why would cats in particular not like the lift?
