I'm trying to figure out who makes the Eco featured in the video below. I have a few suspects, but I thought maybe someone would know or has one.

That one has the flood chamber on the opposite side. I'm not 100% sure that's it.

Do you mean the H&M Speedy or the Zip? Both look like the hatch is significantly shorter than the one in the video.

Regarding the hatch, the Hopf looks closer.

:help: Now I'm confused! LOL

...I still don't understand how folks could use stick radios lol

I started on stick radios and went to pistol grip - took a while to get used to the wheel.

What Egneg said leads me to believe that it be matter of preference and what you are used to. Or what you have available when you head out to the pond for that matter!

Any other thoughts on who makes this hull? Is it modified from one of these other manufacturers? Perhaps it is indeed the Hopf hull, but a previous version or something along those lines.:popcorn2:

It's definitely a Hopf Super Sonic, the photo of it on the web site with the flood chamber on the opposite side is back to front.( Notice the big number seven)
Naviga has a speed class F1e-1kg for boats of similar size but limited to 1 kilogram weight that are running about 750 watts power, here's an example. The hull is a Kukorelli Lady B.

Novak GTB 13.5 system
Maxamps 6,000 2s2p
Airtronics M11 2.4 radio and servo
Graupner 31mm prop

Good for 33mph with no hull mods
You guys have got me all jacked up!

Looks like NAMBA keeping eco was good let's see if we can slide a BL/Lipo
suppliment into NAMBA's Eco rules NOT to become a heated debate , just a suggestion..

One class that could cross over worldwide wouldn't hurt

I already proved the euro boys wrong when they said I couldn't bust 28mph with an eco on 7-zellen and a 19-turn motor

Billy... Sounds like you are telling me that I should put together my H&M ECO w/ ETTI Hardware I've had sitting here and get it ready for October??? :thumbup1: (Got the H&M because the hull shape is also a legal Mono under NAMBA rules... many of the others weren't...)

Get that rule request in...

I'm building the Hopf Eco with the Etti hardware ( 1.5 mm pianowire ), did you use the
coupler from Etti ? Can it deal with the power ?

Those are the same parts I have... haven't tried the coupler yet... it's a tiny little thing... Should hold up to a brushed setup... Not sure about a "Stock" BL though... One way to find out! ;)

While we are talking Ecos... is there any rule of thumb, etc., concerning shaft angles, balance points, etc?? I've never set one up before...

Gerwin Brommer

I'll try to find'em for you.

" Rules " :

Rudderaxle : 10% of hull-lenght ( looking from the back )
Front op prop : 25 % """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Rudderaxle-angle : 90 degr. to driveshaft-angle
COG : where the tubing exits the hull.

That are the basic-settings for any given eco.

Indeed the ETTI can hold it.
Those ETTI drives are SAWEET eco drives..

Check out these nitro Ecos http://www.toys-port.hu/en/index.htm Then go to purpose
I mean, I know this is Offshore ELECTRICS but they could make for broader understanding.. :sorry:

Bill,

That are no eco's.
They are from the so called "FSR-boats". A racing-class here in Europe.
Do you guys know that class , on your side of the ocean ?
I agree, they look the same and both have fully submerged props.

I TOTALLY miss running stick radios.

If you guys really get involved with ecos, I'll be stoked.
Its a long shot, but it'd be awesome to run it at the nats..
I have 2 and would let some clown drive one..

Are there any general rules as to the shape of these hulls?

Ideal dead rise angle?
Any width to length ratios?
Length of the straight portion of the keel in relation to the length/radius of the Curved section?
Spray rails? :thumbup1: or :ThumbsDown01:
Size of the flood chamber?

I'm thinking about seeing if I can't design an "ideal" eco (many, many scratch build wooden models for testing), and then get that hull design all over in the US as a sort of one design racing class. Similar to the SV27 class.
