I am going to use lipos from now on. My Titan has an SV Power Systen from OSE
and my cat has a UL-1 Power system also from OSE. I am planning to use 2 each
2SP1 30C 4900 MAH 7.4 V lipos. I run X447 props on my boats. Will these batteries
be OK. I do not know anything about lipos and do not want to start frying ESCs and
motors. Thanks for your help. Happy Memorial Day

PS. Do you think I should change props to X642, less diameter and higher pitch.

Your LiPo specs sound OK for your intended use.

Your batteries sound OK, but using a prop diameter over 40mm in a UL-1 powered (motor/esc) cat may cause capacitor in the ESC to fail. I would use the smaller m440 or GR L35 x 55 to be safe.

Your SV motor/esc will handle larger props, but you may need to use 5mm bullet connectors on the motor/esc. The cheap thin factory connectors get too hot easily and will melt solder when using larger props such as m445.

BTW...is that your cat in your avatar? How big is it? Where can I find one like that?

Thanks and Happy Memorial Day to you too.

Hi Detox, Thanks for the advice on the prop. How about a X642. Yes that is my
30" scratch built cat in my avatar. There is a big thread "30" scratch built cat"
under Boat building. I got the plans from Jesse J, a member of the forum, I have
PDF and JPG plans but you would have to plot them to the size you want. Let me
know if you want them. Thanks for the prop info. I was running 4600 MAH NIMH cells
and got tired of burning packs so now lipos. Regards

Is your cat powered using TWO UL motor/esc systems? Or one?

OK i just looked at your build tread. You are using one. I would only use a 40mm prop with the fragile UL-1 esc. How much does your Cat weigh? That hull may be too much for your power combo.

Detox, the hull weighed only 14oz. I started with a 700 SC just for testing. then
went to the UL-1. It handles excellent and GPS speed is 44.6 MPH. I am extremely
happy with how it turns and handles. Only thing is that Lipos are too warm after
a 7 Minute run. I agree and think my prop is too big. Wil order a couple from
OSE to test. Thanks
Norman
PS The 14 oz was without hardware motor esc and batteries. Just the hull. Will weigh it
and send you the info

My ready to run UL-1 with lipos installed weighs 5 lbs 4 ozs (84 ozs)

Using the Flightpower 2s packs I have seen lipo temps reach 170 degrees in my UL-1. My new Hyperion G3 cells run around 110 degrees

They look good. I checked out the link. About twice the cost of Zippy's though
