Today I ran the SV27 motor/esc combo in my UL-1 using the L40X57/3 prop. The boat seemed just as fast as using the stock UL-1 motor/esc combo(No GPS, but maybe 49 mph) . I also tried the m445 prop, but UL-1 appeared no faster. Although the SV motor/esc did run way hotter than UL-1 motor/esc...it never did blow a capacitor using the larger m445 prop.

Motor temp 191
ESC temp 145
Hyperion G3 lipo temps 115

Isn't the SV27 motor a bit lower on rpm/v?

This may be a factor in the higher current/temps.

I have been curious about the Great Planes Ammo 36-56-2600, but again I am still very new to this sport.

I think the SV motor is 1800kv. The UL-1 motor is around 2000kv .

To run the SV27 motor/esc in the UL-1 you must change out the motor/esc bullet connectors using 4mm Castle bullets. Simply unsolder the thin crappy SV connectors (DO NOT cut them off motor) then resolder on beafier Castle connectors.

The 2600 is too hot for 4S but the Ammo 2300 would be a step up...just prop down a bit to test it for heat.

Ahh yes, it is becoming clearer now...

This is the one... but it will need power factor correction (I believe) to keep the esc from making the quantum leap.

Still have a lot of testing to do with the original setup...

Thanks Jeff!

I plan to try a Medusa Research Afterburner series motor next. I use them in my EDF jets and they are very good motors. I was looking at the MR-036-060-2200 (http://www.medusaproducts.com/motors/036-V2.htm)for the UL-1
