Thanks hookedup! Under the hood is a 2600KV 400DF BL Outrunner, Castle Phoenix 25 ESC (w/Pistix), 1320 3S Thunderpower Lipo and a Hitec S81 Steering servo. Octura rudder, Solinger Strut and turn fin is next to be added...

i got pretty much the same thing in mine, except my Phoenix 25 doesnt need the PiStix. did you try it with out? and mine has octura hardware with an X632.

HOTWATER

I have not tried it without the PiStix...What radio/receiver do you use with it? I will be using a Futaba Magnum 3PM-Fm TX and a R153F RX Or a Novak FM RX.

A side note: Diegoboy runs a modified V935/3 cut down to 32mm. I'm testing a V935/3 razor sharpened and balanced. So far, so good, no issues with the ESC you both are using. Still working with strut adjustments. However, I'm testing an Ammo 2700 running on a Flitepower 1320 3s.

Hey Meniscus! That would be great to try! After several runs with the plastic Octura Y props that I have, I will put on the X632 S/B (not detounged...YET) and see what that will give me. Hopefully things won't heat up too much after a couple of min. run time. Does the V935/3 give you guys any fits temp. wise on anything? Also, what are the average run times with that prop? (before the smoke and meltdown...JK!)

Thanks! -Kent

Very nice! Littlescreamer prototype? I have not heard anything about them being for sale...

I was trying the 380L in mine, watercooled, but the battery was very painful to get in and out. Diegoboy was kind enough to help me with a bubble hatch to make that happen. I may still try, but I wanted to try the Ammo while I'm working with the adjustments to the strut.

I ran 3s, Ammo 2700kv, Castle 25, V935/3 for 2.5 minutes. No heat to speak of, warm to hot to touch. Without a temp gun, I'd say 95 to 100 degrees F. No water cooling yet.

Hotwater, if you're sticking with the outrunner, which I think is a perfect match, then I'd consider Steven's small watercooled mount found here: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=tfl-509b13

I haven't checked the dimensions yet to make sure it fits, so check that first!

Thanks Meniscus! I have seen that mount...HMMMM! I will eventually consider that option, Thanks!

Yeah, I remember the hatch thread! Diego made a very cool looking cockpit hatch!!

Hey, by the way, did you ever get someone to buy that beautiful bass guitar?

Thanks again,

Hey Miniscus, what motor mount are you using for the Ammo? I like the fact that the Ammo does not get too hot...and that is without a cooling jacket?! is that motor a 380 size?

Keep the info coming...I love it...and thank you guys!

-Kent P.S.- Sorry your old friend is gone, but somebody else will be very happy with it, I'm sure.

I am not recommending yet until I do some more testing. I cannot say for sure that it doesn't get hot yet and don't want to misguide you. Plus, I plan on water-cooling the Ammo. The Ammo is a 28-35-2700 and specs are listed below. The motor mount is.....well..........wood, LOL! At least for now.

SPECS: Motor Diameter: 1.1" (28mm)
Motor Length: 1.378" (35mm)
Shaft Diameter: .126" (3.2mm)
Shaft Length: .591" (15mm)
kV Rating: 2700 rpm/V
Weight: 3.3oz (94g)
Input Voltage: 11.1-18.5V
Max. Constant Current: 15A
Max. Surge Current: 30A
Max. Constant Watts: 278W
No Load Current: .8A

No worries! I am only interested in the setup I have on it now...well...at least for a while. No Ducted Fan testing with it in the near future:olleyes:...LOL!!! I do like the water cooled mount(s) on OSE though.

Thanks hookedup! Yeah, I am going to use one on my Rigged Insanity UL-1 motor.
Just curios about the small outrunner setup. By the way, I did run into something else this afternoon while finishing up my Renegade...I was wondering if I can run the Phoenix 25 with the factory settings "as is " out of the package? It says you can but I don't know for sure. I did buy the USB cable for programming but do I really need to change any of the default settings?

Thanks,
Kent

No problem Meniscus...Thank you for chiming in though!:crying:

Just finished with the elec. and hardware today. I put it on a scale and it weighs 12.5 ounces minus the flex and prop. I was surprised to see that, considering the sealer, 1 coat Kilz, 2 coats primer and paint that I put on it!!:w00t:

Well, my green one needs to be repainted. I was looking for some fluorescent green with a little yellow. The paint I found ran like crazy and had globs :S

Maybe I'll try something different. I have an idea for a paint scheme for all of my boats. My Blackjack is currently being painted with that scheme. We'll have to see how it turns out, but all of my boats may get a similar scheme.

My Rigged Insanity will have the same paint scheme as this one (Renegade) with a couple more "sponsor" decals on it. It's gonna be the little Renegade's big brother!

LOL!! You're probably right! Well, I hope one of them will be fast...

Man, I gotta tell ya...building this thing required a little patience and the hands of a surgeon at times. Some of it reminded me of that game Operation!! DOH!! I'm used to working on glow boats, a bit bigger than this one, but I am getting to like FE boats!:rockon2:

Well guys...I finally got to run her today and let me tell you...the thing is BALLISTIC!!! I must have gotten lucky right off the bat with the strut setting because it stuck very good in the corners and was riding flat out in the straights!

I brought it in after about 10 or so laps and the temps read 145 deg. on the lipos and 138 deg. on the motor. I'm guessing that is pretty warm...? I'm just running the plastic y531 prop on it so far (or, I mean I was until the end of my run, when the prop nut and prop let go right out in front of me...DOH! Forgot to locktight the nut and tighten it down more before the run...oh well, I have more of each...)

This thing is a blast!!!

Thanks Diego!! Thanks to you guys and the threads I have followed, I had an easy day with her!

Now about the temps I listed...do you think those are normal readings? (sorry no temps taken on the ESC) Just hope the motor will not fry too soon. I might have to bring it in a little earlier than I did today and let it cool for a while. Any thoughts?

Mine gets pretty darn hot too, always has, and mine is water cooled. (Steve Eliass' prototype) I have to say it's normal, because she keeps going and going...

Thanks for the confidence Diego! I will be running her again in the morning (with another prop...like the one I lost to the pond...LOL!!!) Also will try a x632 S/B prop later on...this one is not detounged.........yet!:beerchug:

Your temps may decrease if you try an X432.

HOTWATER
05-25-2009, 12:05 AM
I have thought about trying something like that. I actually have a S/B x430 on hand. Have you tried one of those at all? If the speed stays close to what it is now with the plastic y531, then I will be happy, ecspecially if the temps are down with a moderately timed run...
