Tony I should read the fine print first from the link, it is a much smaller version not the gas large one which is what I want and you are bidding on.

Tony

So Venom has an electric RTR 34" version. OK, now i have to think this over again...Hmm

Looking at the one and limited picture and no information I wonder what motor and batteries it is to run with? also the propshafts seem to stick out past the transom by a long shot? I wonder how it will perform. The gas version recived a great review in one of the rc magazines. I love the paint job and the scale looks. I am just curious why they don't show more pictures of the setup?

I'm still tempted though

It will be available in Mid May. Maybe then there will be some more pics and infos... It would be nice if i could just get the hull.

The gas KOS has been out for a while and they still have a terrible page for it on their website infact all their boat pages are terribly lacking in info and photos!

Hull and parts total $370, RTR $499, So the Tx cost $129 ?

H2OCamel
04-24-2009, 01:23 AM
Well it is cheaper for us to buy the parts and make our own then cus i LIKE MY Tx :D

Is that without the motor and esc for $370?

The gas version recived a great review in one of the rc magazines.

I wold have to go ahead and disagree... the great reviews are probably to their great scale looks and assemblies... performance it was quite poor. It had a big gas motor in there and they were raving about the boat doing 30mph (maybe 35, I don't remember).
I have to say that it ain't exactly fast. I saw the video and was really disappointing seeing such gorgeous hulls in a tiny pond barely coming out of the hole.

Now, the 34" version it's something that we can work with, we could either convert or just get the hull alone and get a great looking hull that by the looks will perform well too... at worst case scenario, you'll have a display hull that cost 133 bux.
If anyone wants to see pics of a converted version of the Segad, Fine Design has the pics... just go to the site and look in the hull section.

Saw the electric conversion on Fine Design RTR for $1589 with single drive. Would be nice if they had done it with twin drives.

The 34" is an RTR electric version. I would get the hull alone, and do twin drives .

This 34" version is a TWIN drive version! On the small photo you can see the stinger drive extending past the centrally mounted rudder with twin cooling lines splitting off to the two sides. Furthermore in the parts list both prop options (3-blade, 32mm & 36mm Pitch 1.4) are listed as conventional AND CR (counter-rotating)...
Buy the hull and hardware (I calculate about $440,00 for twin drives) and put in your own electrics!! I assume the hull is painted and decalled...

I know I beat this dead horse all the time buuuut ..... How many of us really believe that Mid May delivery date??????

Wouldn't you think that they would have all kinds of info available somewhere as to the power, speed, etc...... If they were going to be available in just a couple of weeks!!!!!

And after rushing out to buy the UL 1 from the first batch and experiencing the flaws with that hull I don't think anyone should be in a rush to buy the 1st ones!

As far as price goes, sure it's cheap enough to go RTR, just remember that
you will not be getting anything competitive... I'd get the hull, assuming
it's painted and decal'd and throw in my choice of power and electronics.

UB thanks for the link. it tells more about what I wanted to know then the venom site. I am interested in this hull because it should be painted being the replacement hull. the question becomes will they really sell the hull alone or will if forever be on back order?

I will try one to see how good it is.

Good luck... just remember, this is a fresh product, not sure if it has been fully release or only a soft release... it could take a while to get your hands on one... keep us posted please!

Similar to the other 30" inch Asian cat on the market.

They mention that they have full approval from the 2006-2007 KOS,
I guess that makes it more legit then the other Asian cat, hehehehhe...
I'd buy the hull alone... preferably the Segad, KOS as a plan "B".
If the KOS is anything like the big sister cat, it has the little screws on the windshield and details like that... it's a nice hull... it would be a nice addition to anyones fleet.

Hmmm
34"
A pair of 380's , 60A a side. I guess they are 3S packs ??
40 mph ??? Possible ??? Plausible ???

If so then I my twin cat idea may come back on the boil.

same here. I bought the "asian cat" apparition RTR, ripped out the 380 motor and esc . Replaced it with a 9XL Feigao and ETTI esc. It now can run in the mid 50... So, i too believe i can do the same with this 34" RTR KOS.

Venom has some nice stuff but they give you NO information or details about their products! For example, they have a charger called the Venom Pro but no info. How many cells? How many amps? etc? All they give you is a 'buy now" button.

Strange marketing for sure.

It seems to me this hull handles very well in this video. Handles chop like nothin'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m6APekIkgs

I can't find the video I saw of the KOS with twin motors and drives -- It was labled Zenoah Killer - seems to have dissapeared from Youtube, but that thing screamed!!!

What???? only 40's for a dual 2800+kv motor setup and those props? How come?

NM just saw someone post it has dual 380 motors. That speed for dual 380's I'd like to see happen.
