What boat, or size of boat can I put my SV27 hardware, motor, and esc into that would be ok to use in? :help:

I love the looks of cats, :tongue_smilie:
but not sure if I could go very big?
or maybe a 29" mono?

Ok I am new to the FE fun, so any info would be great!

Thanks

I thought about something similar to this, if you like Hydros, for my old SV gear and motor. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=df-vortex

Both of those hydros are excellent choices for the SV drive train:rockon2:

Nice, but I just picked up a UL-1 and looking for a cat if possible to run with the SV27 gear..

Good looking Hyros though

I've got the UL-1 as well, great little boat. As far as a cat maybe a mean machine??

that seems to be a versatile hull, I've seen it set up a lot of different ways, not sure if the SV27 setup would work. just a thought.

i think certainly any mono hull 26" - 30" would be fine. i did a Traxxas Villian conversion with all SV27 electrics and hardware, the only thing i didnt use was the motor mount.

A very versatile package'
I've run it in the following

My X-WING canard (see my avatar)
25" mono
32" cat (Apparition)
1/8 scale vintage shovel nose hydro. The timber Equipage version. Very heavy. Weighed over 4kg
NQD Admiralty 40" cat.
NQD Bat boat.

Cheers.
Paul.

A club member runs 40 mph with a UL-1 system in his MeanMachine. Very stable and quick, and the hulls can be had cheap as storm-damaged merchandise on the Aeromarine site or eBay, can't remember.

Wonder if I could get the same speed with the SV27 system?

How does it handle?

Could I use all the SV hardware on that boat so I don't need to buy much more to get it to Rock? :rockon2:

Brushless.
I only have one sv27 motor & ESC. I have run it in each of them from time to time.
I just swap it around. It's not in anything at the moment. Just sitting in the cupboard.
No link to it in the cat I'm afraid. There's an 8XL in that now.
But here it is in the 25" mono. It's about halfway down the page.

How abut SV power in a rigger?
Anyone have links to great looking and performing Riggers?

Thanks

Brushless.
Never checked the speed with the SV motor, but yes around 40. It's got the Ammo 2300 in it now & does 45mph & it does feel a bit quicker than the SV package.
As for a rigger, I don't know. I've never built one.
Cheers.

This rigger is a very good package for the sv power system.

I'm in the process of building one now...actually on the painting stages currently. Great kit! I'm going to be running the UL-1 motor/ESC combo in mine. Also would like to get a SV motor and see which of the two I like better. Here's some pics...

Mean Machine, if you search in the mean machine treads there is one with a SV27 motor, I do not remember the esc though.

Ok found it, here you go. It is the one of ICE329. You will need a strut though and maybe a rudder.

Today I ran my Rigger Insanity using the SV27 motor/esc combo. The prop that I used was a Octura m445. Speeds were around 40-45mph. I am sure the Octura m645 would be slightly faster.

Hey detox!

Nice! I have an M645 for my Insanity. I was told that it would be a great prop to use with my setup. Good to hear that from you too! Mine should be finished soon. Just got my micro Renegade ready for action...

The large m645 will probably damage your stock UL-1 ESC. The UL-1 combo likes to spin high so without ESC damage I would use either a Grimracer L40 X 57/3, Grimracer L38 x 55, or Octura m440. For some reason the SV 27 combo will handle larger props better without harm to ESC, but SV motor also spins a little slower than UL-1 motor.

If you do use that m645 prop with the UL-1 combo and your boat dies all of a sudden on water then you know why...

Thanks for that info detox! If I were to use the SV 27 motor and the UL-1 ESC, would I be ok running that prop (m645)? I am all ears...:confused2:

I think maybe it would be best to use the sv 27 esc with the sv 27 motor (different timing than UL-1). Be sure to upgrade to better motor/esc bullet connectors because the thin stock connectors will melt at soldered joint

Ok, thanks jingalls007..
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this with the hardware and try my SV27 motor and esc..
any quess on the speed I could get with the SV motor?
I'm thinking 40-45mph? and much more stable than my SV

The Mean Machine will handle 1000x's better then the SV. I didn't like my SV at all so im a little biased. 40-45mph? I don't know, maybe. Start there and work your way up. then get a Tunrigy 180a controller with one of those new Medusa motors and really let it rip, mid 50's in that hull looks pretty fun. Im building the same boat right now actually, it's a sprint cat but identical bottom as the mean machine. Steve has them in stock right now to for 155.00 which is great cause Aeromarine's prices just went up a bit, i'd buy one now if i were you before they go.

for the money $75 shipped you cant beat the 25" prince mono your sv harware will fit right in it and it handle much beter than sv...do a search for prince 25" mono on youtube and you will be amazed how this hull performs

I just ordered the "boogieman" 25" from here

Well im up in the air as to what motor to run. originally, Jay Turner (Fluid) worked with me on a NEU setup, I thought a 1515 1y but Jay suggested the 1521 1.5D as a much better option for my cat. I had basically purchased everything for the 1515 1y setup, the 1521 is intirely different requiring larger cable, larger stuffing tube, larger everything really so that's why my interest peaked in the MEdusa motors. I could still run all the same equipment that I had already purchased for the 15151y with similar (not the same) torque as the 1521 1y but with lower KV. There is some controversy on the Medusa motors cause not too many botors are currently using them but as far as I can tell they are pretty damn good for the money. Hopfeully that asnwer didn't bore you :blah: I plan to get everything that i need to complete the build next week and yes i would love to go run em'. Im also going to transfer the UL-1 guts into another Hydro. (I screwed up my UL-1 a few days ago, that's a different post for a different day, I'm still a little hurt over the incident )
