Hi,
I'm quite a beginer in FE and I've bought this Hydro Marine Spider (near to 27' long) already build
It came with a cheaper motor a KD 10L and I decided that the hull deserves more and I've put in a plett HP220/30 A3 in it and a Hi model 200Amps esc.
Link for the motor is here
http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com/UK/Motoren/Brushless/220_30/motor.htm
I will be running it on lipo 4s or max 5s -5000mah 30/50c
Now I don't know what prop to use.
Tried it with a x642 and it went quite well before the flex cable blew away ..
Still on the Octura prop chart I saw that I should try bigger ones but the reco was more for nitro and not FE.
I've already bought a 1742/3 and one 1745/3 will this two fit or should I look for more?

Nice Boat.
What size is the Flex cable? .130 or .150? What was the point of failure with the cable?
Those 17xx props have more pitch than the X642.
If the X642 "blew away" the cable, those 17xx will do it easier.

Well the cable failed most because of me.. It was the european setup with no drive dog for the prop. I've shorten it to put a drive dog and after a few runs it went out of the coupler straight to the bottom of the lake...

It was a 4mm shaft with a 3mm cable I think. I will go now on 4mm shaft and .150 cable

Still this is my first hydro and also we have only a few this size arround so I really do not know how to prop it up.
I'm quite confuzed also by the reco on this site http://www.funrcboats.com/prop_chart1.htm were I saw that with the same engine you need to go with diferent prop sizes based on the hull
In my case I was looking at "HYDRO/OUTRIGGER -INBOARD - 3.5cc - 1450, 1650, 1945, X447, X447/3, X448" so I was wondering if 1742 is not a little under prop for the hull/motor
I also have another problem I need to wait arrond 3 weeks to get my octura props - Steven is not selling to Romania directly yet :). So I need to do my shopping in one round. Can't wait to test and then order a bigger one etc..

So any advice will be apreciated :) Thanks

Welcome to the Spider Club.
I have an H & M Spider with Feigao 8XL on 4S Lipos and have found an Octura X642 gives best mix of speed and handling.

Will get one or two or try to retrieve the lost one from the bottom of the lake :)
If you have other setup tips let me know..
I will post again some videos when I get the props. Up to now I'm quite happy to be part of the "Spider club" it's a beautifull hull :thumbup1:
