Thought I'd post a few pics of my latest fast electric build since I took some heat for posting my Large Scale Gas 27 Mono.:tt2:

31" Rico Mono with a 1515 1Y on 4s 2p MarinePower 4950s, Hydra 240, and a tweeked M445.

Very nice ride Mr Smock, how would you compare the Rico to the DF33 ?

Thanks Andy
I was running with a DF33 today with the same setup. They are pretty even speed wise, but when the pond gets messy the Rico handles better, especially in the corners.

Nice one Doug!

I almost bought one of these last year, but no-one else seemed to run them (except Mike), so I went for a DF.

Glad to see another one out there.

Hm might be time to look at a new mono hull, The old DF is getting a bit banged up now.

I may end up running one that is 1/2 or 5/8" shorter. I need some more wheel time with her. :thumbup1:

That's all gelcoat except for the windshield Douggie.:thumbup1:

I put a .187 in this one as it is a bit heavier than P boats I have run in the past.;)

That's beautiful. I think you are a "mono" expert,80 mph with a mono is "something" to achieve.

Only one query from me, do you use teflon in your flex? If not, you do you make the stinger adjustable?

Doug Smock

The stinger is not adjustable at the transom. I used 1/4" OD brass tubing annealed it where it passes through the transom and into the stinger. The tube butts up against the brass bushing in the stinger. The drive is smooth, quiet, and teflon free.

I just noticed the "grease guard" on the stuffing tube. Great idea!

It does a good job for what it is. A spring steel paper clip, a "T" shaped piece if 1/8" ply and a nylon reinforced rubber flap.
If you look close you can see the 2" masking tape under the collet. When it gets nasty I'll replace it.
I got just a bit anal huh??:olleyes::biggrin:

We do the same at the monster truck race track we use. Our city built one for us! :)

I thought that may be what it would be used for. Up here in the barren FE world, we may have 6 FE boaters and Peter is the star. Unfortunately he lives in Alberta and can only run his wonderfull boats for a very short period of time. Also Peter, I love building boats and get more satisfaction out of that process than running them.
